============================

My eyes were shut as I exhaled. The sun had set just moments ago and streams of red, orange and pink beams of light seized the entirety of the room, which held a single bed, a birch bedside table, a desk, and a large window to see outside. I lay in the cream white sheets that were forced to be warm due to my own body heat after laying in bed for so long.

It had been a few hours since Shinobu and Aoi left on critical business and I was left alone in the single-bedded room as the sun slowly set over the silhouetted mountains. The sun was a deep red and reflected deep hues of buttercup yellows and flame oranges of the skies into my deep (e/c) eyes, making them seem red in color.

On the bedside table lay a single glass next to a much larger glass jug filled with doted water, to help my condition.

My attention was drawn to the door as the handle was slowly pushed down, in hopes of being discreet. I kept my eyes on the door as it slowly opened, revealing Sanemi, who wore a blank face. He looked at my form with a frown and furrowed brows. "You look like shit." He spoke, his voice was gruff as he spoke, likely angry at me.

I looked away from him and out the window to the slowly rising crescent moon. "I'm glad you think so" I responded quietly while softly smirking.

He scoffed before fully closing the door and plopping himself on the seat next to my bed, where Shinobu once sat. His arms rested on the back of the chair as he leaned his head back to stare at the ceiling. "So, you gonna tell me what the hell happened?" He inquired, still watching the ceiling and closing his eyes.

I pursed my lips and my sight never left the rising moon. "To be honest...Even I don't really know." My mouth formed a frown as I heard him exhale.

"You never said it was this damn bad." He scowled and refused to turn to me, he kept his face turned above.

I tapped my fingers against the mattress as the night sky evaded my vision through the window. "Sorry." I apologized sincerely and he scoffed.

"Sure."

My brows creased and I exhaled softly. A calm but slightly tense silence enveloped us and we were left with our own thoughts before Sanemi spoke up. "What did Shinobu say about it?" He inquired, his voice was softer than before. He opened his eyes once more and a frown was displayed on his face.

I rolled over on my side and the sheets of the bed followed my movements. "She said it was worse than she thought it was." My eyes closed and my breaths were calm as my body faced the window, where the bright light of the moon and stars shone through, illuminating my scarred (s/c) skin and locks of (h/l) (h/c) hair. "She thinks it could be some sort of curse." My voice was quiet and gentle as I slowly closed in on myself, careful not to interrupt the stitching.
