Your eyes widened at the person that just barged into your room.

What is he doing here?

And how did he even know I'd be here?

Is he here to tell me to give him his card back?

Did he hear about what happened to me?

But even so he wouldn't be able to get himself over here in less than a day.

Naoto- "What are you doing here Chief?"

Chief?!

"I'm not here for you.."

Wait a minute....Derek is the Chief?!

But how?!

He's a superintendent at a school district.

Or at least I thought he was....

Why is all this happening to me?q

You- "Derek?"

Naoto turned to look at me and then back at Derek.

Naoto- "You know each other..?"

You looked at Naoto.

He doesn't know who I am?

Or what we were??

Wouldn't he have know since we've lived together for 2 years?!

So many questions filled your head.

You- "Derek is m-."

Derek- "-I need to talk to her alone..."

Derek turned to Naoto before you could finish your sentence.

He's hiding something..

Naoto- "Anything you gotta say to her, you can say it in front of me..."

Derek sighs.

Derek- "I just wanted to give her my most sincerest apology....."

Naoto crosses his arms and stands his ground.

Derek- "Please Naoto....I just don't want to break down in front of you..."

Naoto gazed down a bit then turned to you before letting out a sigh.

Naoto- "Just shout if you're in trouble (Y/N), I'll be right outside..."

You nod.

Naoto gives you a smile before heading out the door, not even sparing a glance at Derek, closing the door after him.

Derek turned his head to the door until he heard it click shut, taking a deep breath before slowly turning to you.

You- "What is going on her Derek? I thought you were the superintendent at the school district...."

Derek sighs then walks over to sit where Naoto sat.

Derek- "I just....I didn't expect this day to come..."

You- "What? The day I find out that while I was struggling to make meets end, you're living in a f*cking penthouse?! Were you hoping I'd DIE before you could even think to tell me?!"

Derek bit the inside of his cheek.

Derek- "(Y/N) before I continue on, I wanted you to know that I did all of this to protect you...."

You- "Protect me how? Derek! I am in a f*cking hospital bed, sticked with IV tubes and a big f*cking bruise on my face! How are YOU protecting ME from ANYTHING when I almost got killed?!"
