"They're here Chief.."

Derek watches out the jet's window as he saw a Hearse pull up to the jet.

He watches as 3 men exit the vehicle, including the driver.

He sees them pull a coffin out of the back as they carry it to the jet.

Other officials rush over to help them load up the coffin.

Derek's stomach dropped when he saw the coffin.

He didn't want to attend your execution because he didn't feel the need to.

He already saw you so he felt that was enough.

He didn't need to be there during your final moments since you already did what he needed.

But he instantly felt regret after seeing the coffin.

The fact that your deceased body lies within that coffin just broke him.

He then started thinking about the years you two spent together.

The day he met you.

The day he started to catch feelings.

The day he asked you out.

The day he asked for your hand in marriage.

Although he had told you that all of that was for pity...

He lied.

All of that was genuine.

He truly is in love with you.

He really did want to spend the rest of his life with you.

He wanted to start a family with you.

To grow old with you.

To watch their children have children of their own.

But all of that changed when he became Chief.

He spent countless hours at work.

Solving cases.

Attending murder trials.

Sending criminals to prison.

The more difficult his job got, the harder it was to live a double life.

The double life he made up when he got out of the academy.

He lied about being a superintendent.

He lied about staying overtime to attend PTA meetings.

He lied about working weekends to catch up.

All to protect YOU.

He didn't want criminals to go after you to try and use you to get to him.

He didn't want you to be known as the Chief's woman, knowing of the dangers that lie out in the world.

That's why he decided to break up your engagement.

Because he feared for your safety.

He feared that he would go home and find you dead.

Kidnapped.

Or worse.

And he was right.

He remembered one day at work, he had received a picture message from a colleague of his of him at a local café.

But that's not what he was worried about.

He was worried because he was with YOU.

His colleague said that he saw it online at one of the advertising pictures for the café and you two happened to be in the back.
