...

As they drew nearer and nearer to the castle of the Demon Kingdom, the strong dark magic
power that Alice felt was getting stronger. At first, she thought that it was similar to his father’s dark magic, though as they grew closer, she realized that it was different from that of her father’s or her grandfather’s. The dark magic power that she felt was too strong for a demon that lived in that land, the Demon Kingdom. If the ruler was from the Devil's Realm then it would be possible.

Hold on, aren’t the Devil Realm and the Demon Kingdom adversaries? In my past, when we were still rulers of this kingdom, the devil realm was hostile towards demons in this land. Sometimes they attacked us for no reason.
Though this happened back in my time. Perhaps they are on good terms now. Alice thought.

One of the demon knights that was guarding the gate of the demon castle noticed Zerha and
Sage. He approached them and asked who they were.

“Uh...We are just wandering around the area.” Zerha faked a laugh as she was nervous.

The demon knight frowned. “You two look suspicious. Remove the hood and allow me to see
your faces.” He planned to draw his sword if they were to cause trouble. Sage noticed this and suddenly stood in front of Zerha to protect her in case the demon knight suddenly decided to
harm her.
“S-Sage, calm down,” Zerha whispered to him as she notice his aura became dark. Then she said to the demon knight, “We are not
suspicious demons. We’re just about to head back to the city.”

“Are you sure?” The demon knight asked suspiciously.

“Yes. Sage, let’s go.”

The demon knight merely stared at them as they left. He returned to his previous position and
suddenly another demon knight approached him.
“Sir, did you see the prince leave the castle?”

“No. Did he leave secretly again?”

“Perhaps. The king wants us to look for him.”

“Don’t bother. Prince Morloch will surely be back by nightfall. He might have escaped the
castle, though he will return around midnight as usual.”

“But it’s the king’s orders...”

“We can’t find him even if we tried to just like the other days.”

“You are right. I wonder what he is up to. He always leaves the castle and returns at midnight.”

The other demon knight sighed. “I don’t know, and I don’t want to get near the prince. He’s too
scary.” He felt chills run down his spine as he said the last part.

“You are right. They say he has been like that since the princess died. You’ve been the guard
here for quite some time, right, sir? Did you see the princess’ face?”

“I haven’t seen the face of the princess. Word says it has been one hundred years since she
died.”

“Whew. Royalties are incredible, considering that they are still alive after how many years.”

Another demon knight joined their conversation. “Ahem. I heard your conversation. I think the reason that the prince is leaving in secret is that he’s still looking for the princess.”

“I thought that the princess is already dead. Where did you get that information?”

“The old guard…”

“Oh, you mean the demon knight that has been serving the king the longest? Well, maybe it’s
true. Maybe It’s not. There are lots of rumors spreading around. We cannot be so sure.”
