Dinukot ko mula sa bulsa ng coat ko ang cellphone ko kung saan nakasalpak ang headset ko. Pinause ko muna ang kantang tumutugtog at huminto muna sa paglalakad para matawagan si Anica.
"Hey, how's Zach?" Tanong ko rito.
Narinig ko siyang bumuntong hininga bago sumagot.
"He's fine. Still sleeping." Aniya.
"Try kissing him, Chieri. I think he's pretending to be Sleeping Beauty. If it doesn't work, slap the living shit out of him."
Tumawa siya ng malakas sa kabilang linya. At least I know, I can make my best friend's girlfriend laugh even though he's sleeping.
"Kahit kailan gago ka talaga parang siya." Pangungumpara niya sa amin ni Zach.
Nangunot ang noo ko at sumagot.
"Hey! We are different. I'm handsome, he's a fvcking idiot. Don't worry, once I got home I'll kiss him for you."
All I heard is Chieri's laugh na pati ako ay napapailing sa pinagsasabi ko. Hayup ka, Zach. Imbes na ikaw nagpapatawa sa girlfriend mo, ako pa nagiging clown para sa kanya dahil sa'yo. Ba't kasi hindi na lang gumising?
"Fvck you, Chase." Mura ni Chieri sa akin. Aba loko din.
Natawa na lang ako. Kay Zach rin nagmana to eh.
"I knew you would say that. Sorry if everyone's gotta leave. I can't let my father's company down. Ina can't leave her career with Zane and Irina just got into a random music company in Korea while Jacob went to somewhere. We are so sorry for leaving you there, Chieri." Hingi ko ng tawad at the same time I lied.
Your friend, Irina, is not in Korea but she's at her wedding right now. Hindi kasal namin kundi kasal nila ni Kurt. Tanginang yan.
"Okay lang Chase. I have Nathalie and Justin. I still have Zach physically so it's fine. He'll wake up sooner." sagot niya sakin.
Natahimik ako. Bigla kasing sumagi sa isip ko si Zach. I can't stop thinking about the possibilities. Gusto ko rin naman malaman kung anong gagawin ni Chieri if ever that happens. No matter how strong Zach's girlfriend is, him gone permanently would kill Anica.
"What if he doesn't? What if he doesn't wake up, Chieri?" Tanong ko sa kanya.
"I guess I'll accept it. I'm expecting it anyway. Even if it hurts me." she answered and I heard her sigh deeply.
"We'll be right here, Chieri. Stay strong. That's the Chieri I know who Zach loves so much. Don't give up on him 'kay?" Ani ko rito.
