the next day
As I listened to each ring on my phone, my stomach churned each and everytime. I couldn't even eat my food, I was so nervous. Felt like I could throw it up and I wouldn't be surprised if I did. I couldn't hold shit down anymore and it was scary. I had a doctors appointment soon to figure out why.

"Hello?" My mom spoke on the phone interrupting my thoughts.

"H-hey." I stuttered.

"Wait can you FaceTime? I'm kinda in the middle of something." She chuckled.

"Yeah sure." I nodded, fixing my hair and wiping the corners of my eyes.

Propping my phone up against my lunch bowl, I clicked the FaceTime button and waited for the call to connect.

Once it did, the first thing I noticed was her background. It was night time wherever she was. Here in Washington it was literally 1 in the afternoon.

"Where you at?" I smirked, looking at her background.

"I'm in Japan with my maaaan." She bragged, showing her background and the view.

"Ooo! Okay! But who is your man?!" I laughed.

"Mmmm...you know..." She smirked, pursing her lips.

I swear my mama had a different nigga every other month. Each richer than the last. She traveled the world with them and got the bag while holding her own money. Loved that for her.

"Where are you?" She laughed, looking all into my background.

"My new job." I cheesed, holding my hands up.

"Oooo! What do you do now?!" She questioned. "Nurses assistant. That's until I graduate though. I have so many things I wanna go into. But for now this is the gig I booked."

"I'm proud of you." She smirked. "What about Quentin? What is he up to?"

"Thank you! And he just opened a tattoo shop! Literally last week he had this big grand opening." I smiled, thinking about how proud I was of him. "You know he's always been on the artistic side."

"That's so amazing! Wow! I'm proud of both of you."

"We try, we try. You know? We got our own place too. Just taking things one step at a time." I smirked. "Ma I really love him."

"I know you do." She cheesed. "I had my doubts but...y'all are good together. And I'm happy you two stayed together and close while you were at school."

"I'm glad we did too. We almost didn't make it. We talked about breaking up twice when I was in school. But I'm so glad we didn't because now look." I smiled.

"Look at your chubby little cheeks. Reminds me of when you were a baby, baby. The weight looks so good on you."

"You know what! I need to get my ass in the gym because everyone and they mamas are saying I'm getting fat. I don't understand how. Everything I eat, I throw it back up."

"You better hope you don't have that stomach virus I heard was going around." She scoffed. "Some kind of parasite bullshit. Thank God I am out of the country."

"Oh lord...well. I have a doctors appointment coming up. We'll see what's going on. But it's probably just something common." I shrugged.

"Right. You'll be fine." She smiled.

"Anyways, how are you? I called to see how you were doi-" I spoke before a text message from my dad cut me off.

It reminded me of why I really called my mom. To get this man some help. I'd been keeping in touch with him all week and I'd been really worried about him. He told me he'd gotten into two fights, he was robbed for the cash I gave him, one of his teeth were rotting to the point where he passed out, I just couldn't take this anymore. And nobody wanted to help him but me.
