Johnny drove the twins home that night, and their mom banned Miguel from doing karate and from speaking to Johnny ever again. Miguel had woken up by this time, and he was completely appalled by the idea. He pleaded with his mom many times that night and the next day, he even tried to get Maya to try and convince their mom.

But Maya didn't know how to feel. Maybe he shouldn't do karate. Maybe he should. He could defend himself with karate, but they thought that at the Halloween Dance and they were wrong. Maya was just glad that her mom let her stay home that day so she could help with Miguel.

"Maya," Maya looked up as her mom walked into the kitchen as she made some food for Miguel.

"Yes, Mama?" She looked back down to finish Miguel's food.

"Do you think Miggy should do karate?" Maya glanced at Miguel. Her mom often asked her opinions on things dealing with Miguel, she wasn't sure if her mom asked Miguel's opinions when she was dealing with Maya, but Maya turned back to her mom.

"If I'm being honest, Mama, I think he should. He only got beat up really bad this time because he needed more practice." Carmen sighed, Maya knew that her mom was just trying to find someone who would agree with her but Maya couldn't agree.

"Are you sure, Maya?" Maya nodded, taking the plate and giving it to Miguel. "Sorry, it took so long, Miggy." He slowly sat up, his face scrunching in pain.

"It's alright, thank you, Maya." Maya sat beside him, making sure he was okay throughout the day.

Maya and Miguel went to school the next day, Miguel was extremely upset about not being able to do karate anymore. So he was telling Eli and Demetri all about it.

"So, that's it? No more karate?" Demi asked, just for confirmation.

"I guess so." Miguel sighed. They were all in the library, studying at times. Other times, they were just talking.

"It's probably for the best. It was starting to boost your confidence." Maya looked up from her book, her face scrunched with confusion. Unknowingly to Maya, Eli grinned. He thought she looked so cute when she was confused. Lucky for him, Maya was confused a lot in math class.

"Isn't that a good thing?" Miguel asked.

"No. What has confidence ever gotten anybody except for a black eye and their backpack thrown in the trash?" Maya was even more confused. Why would someone throw someone else backpack in the trash? It sounded like a really stupid thing to do.

"Well, I thought it was kind of cool how you stood up to Kyler," Eli spoke up, causing Miguel to grin.

"Are you insane? Let me ask you. What is the best superpower anyone could have?" Maya shrugged as Demi looked between the both of the twins.

"Super strength," Miguel answered quickly, almost as if he had rehearsed answering this question many times.

"Wrong. Invisibility. A distant second would be super speed to run away fast." Maya shook her head at Demi's answer, maybe if Demi was more self-confident and less scared then he'd agree with Miguel.

"Run away from who?" Maya quickly looked up, seeing Kyler lean over her brother's shoulder.

"Whom. It's the object of a preposition. Remember English class." Maya listened to one of Kyler's friends speak. She didn't ever think he could actually retain any information or knowledge.

"We were just leaving," Miguel said as they all stood up, gathering their things.

"Hey, where you going?" Kyler quickly got a hold of Eli, grabbing his face. "Oh, look at this freak. Oh shit! What kind of girl would ever kiss this shit?" Kyler laughed, and Maya felt anger boil within her.
