As the sun began to set over the glittering ocean, the bustling seaside town of Midsummer was awash with excitement. Everywhere you looked, people were dressed in their finest attire, strolling along the promenade and chatting animatedly. The warm summer air was filled with the sounds of laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses, as the festivities of the day gradually gave way to the anticipation of the night's grand ball.

The ball was to be held in the grand ballroom of the most magnificent hotel in town, a towering structure of glass and marble that overlooked the sea. As the guests began to arrive, they were greeted by the sight of the most beautiful room they had ever seen. The chandeliers sparkled like diamonds, casting a warm glow over the room, while the walls were adorned with lush velvet curtains, intricate frescoes, and gilded mouldings.

The guests themselves were a glittering array of the most important and wealthy people in the land. There were nobles and royalty, soldiers and generals, and even the queen herself had graced the event with her presence. They mingled and laughed, sipping champagne and admiring each other's finery.

As the night wore on, the music began to play, and couples took to the floor, twirling and swaying to the rhythm of the waltz. The room was alive with the sound of laughter and the rustling of silks and satins. The women were stunning in their elegant gowns, their hair styled and adorned with sparkling jewels, while the men were dashing in their black tails and white gloves.

As I stood there, watching the grand ball unfold before my very eyes, I couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and nervousness. I was the daughter of Richard Burton, the hotel owner, and this was his chance to finally marry me off to someone of importance. He had been chasing me all evening, eager to introduce me to the eligible bachelors in attendance, but I just couldn't bring myself to take part in his charade.

You see, I had always been a shy girl, content to spend my time with my dear friends Loretta and Lotta Darlington, two noble ladies who were like sisters to me. They were with me now, hiding behind the curtains of the grand ballroom, watching the festivities from afar.

But despite my reservations, I couldn't help but be captivated by the grandeur of the ball. The chandeliers sparkled like diamonds, casting a warm glow over the room, and the guests were a glittering array of the most important and wealthy people in the land. I watched as they danced and laughed, sipping champagne and admiring each other's finery.

Loretta spoke up, "Look! Aren't those the Joestars?" I looked towards where Loretta was pointing, and I realized that indeed, they were the very same Joestars which I actually anticipated to see. You see, every year, Jonathan, and his father would come to this very party, and Loretta and Lotta would tease me to go talk to him, and every year I'd grow closer and closer to talking to him. My father wasn't aware, but I had fallen for the young Joestar very badly.

"Look! There's a lassie beside him!" muttered Lotta. I looked over and saw a beautiful blonde woman. In an instant, I felt my heart shatter, there and then. I heard a soft gasp leave Loretta's lips, she placed her hand upon my shoulder, "Oh Y/n... I'm so sorry..." she mumbled, looking at me with a saddened expression, Lotta sighed, "You did take forever to even come close to him... I am not surprised that you are too late now." Lotta scoffed, and I just looked down in shame.

"You're right, Lotta, I was acting like a child, and this is the consequence of my actions." I said, taking out my handkerchief and wiping the few tears gently off of my face. "Oh Y/n, don't cry over spilled milk, it could have been way worse, you could have confessed to him, and he could have turned you down." Loretta tried cheering me up, but I didn't feel much better from her words.

"I know, Loretta, but it's not just about the fear of rejection, it's about the fact that I've been holding back for so long, waiting for the perfect moment that never came." I sighed, feeling a weight of regret settle in my chest. "It's not too late, Y/n." Lotta said, a hint of hope in her voice. I shook my head, "No, it is. Look at her, she's gorgeous, and she's got his attention fully." I gestured towards the beautiful blonde woman, still clinging onto Jonathan's arm.
