(Second person POV)
Slowly, your eyes opened and, under the glow of the setting sun, you felt the sleepiness that had once clouded your vision fade alongside the warm sense of comfort you got from revisiting the place that was the home to you and your teacher. With a soft sigh, you ran a hand through your hair before sitting up, noticing that Dart was curled up on your stomach like a cat.
Giving her smooth scales a reassuring pat, you gently wrapped her around your neck like a second muffler before starting on the worn footpath again, finding your steps... surprisingly light considering that you're carrying your companion on you.
...Perhaps I'm at peace...? you hummed to yourself, pausing mid-step to cast a glance back at the pile of rubble behind you. Perhaps he was right; my feelings of longing, of loneliness will and have changed, now turning into tranquillity...
Letting out one last sigh that was not of tiredness, no, not anymore. Instead, it was of... acceptance, of contentedness, finally being able to set the promises you made with your teacher aside — for the most part anyway. Turning on your heel, you began walking away, feeling that you were able to breathe a little easier like some of the weight had been lifted off your shoulders.
(Time skip - 1 hour)
Appearing on the deck of the Destiny's Bounty, you sucked in an inhale, closing your eyes even if it were just for a moment. Feeling the sun's warmth flutter across your skin, you gathered what little courage you still had within you and finally reopened your eyes. Suddenly, you could have sworn that you saw a snake-like aura flash before you for a moment before disappearing again as if it were never there in the first place...
How odd... you murmured before shaking the thought out of your head. Alright, you insisted to yourself, I... I can do it... I can-
'Can you?' the voice you had been hearing an awful lot recently huffed, making you bite your lip, stopping just as you were about to take the first step. 'How do you know you're gonna succeed? How do you know that they won't be so, so ashamed of you for giving up without even trying, for running away like the coward you are?'
...No, they won't abandon me... You say that, but you couldn't help but swallow the nervous lump in your throat, They... They promised to-
'Yeah, yeah, more empty promises,' what seemed to be your own intrusive thoughts scoffed, 'Isn't that what Sensei had done before he left you? How could you fall for something like this again, you idiot?'

SHUT THE FUCK UP! Koun suddenly screeched, making you jolt, nearly leaping out of your skin in shock. With a pissed-off groan, she all but growled, Seriously?! Did you really need to go out of your way to get another voice doubting you?! What, am I not enough or something?!
...Oh... you muttered, gaze lowering in both comfort and disappointment. I... thought it was you at first...
Oh yeah, like degrading you is gonna make me reach my goal faster, the spirit scorned, appearing to your left with her arms over her chest. I thought you were the smart one, not me. Well, it's not surprising, considering that I'm great at everything~
...Uh-huh, sure, you couldn't help but smile, feeling the thoughts subside again, Let's save that conversation for another day...
