~Sayd~

"Sayd would you quit moving so much, you're distracting me," Mera said.

"Distracting you? I'm just trying to tidy up the place," I said rearranging on the bookcase.

Truth was, I was moving around so much because I was feeling anxious. It had been more than ten hours since Kace told me he would be coming over. I had tried to call and text him to find out where he was but his phone went straight to voice mail.

With danger still lurking around us, I was trying to think positively, at the same time I was hoping I wasn't going to get stood up. I understood that his past disappearances were because he wanted to hide the wolf's secret but now I would know he just wasn't interested.

"Are you anxious about something?" Mera asked me.

"No why?" I lied.

"Cause I've literally cleaned the entire house already," she said matter of factually. "And you're cleaning it again. "

"Well," I said sitting next to her on the couch. "It was still dusty in here. "

"Well that hurts," she said passing over a bowl of popcorn so I can have some.

"I'm sorry," I apologised. " There was something I'm thinking about. Nothing serious "

"You want to talk about it ?"

" Later, I'd rather take my mind off it right now," I said crunching popcorn.

"Okay well, I'm right here," Her phone rang on the couch and she looked at the screen and put it back down.

"Aren't you going to pick that up?"

"No, it's one of the guys from the bonfire," she explained. " He's been asking me on a daily. I told him no at first but now it's just getting annoying. "

"You're a pretty girl Mera, would you blame him for wanting to go out with you?" I teased.

"No, I mean, I know it's normal for me to be liked but, not enough Mera to go around unfortunately," she said with a proud smile and dramatically tossing her hair. For as long as I could remember Mera always used to get tons of guy's attention in class, not that she could help it. She looked stunning all time, even in her not-so-flattering clothes.

We continued shamelessly talking about boys for a while until we heard a sudden loud bang on the door making us both startle.

"What the heck was that?" I asked Mera.

"No idea, " she said getting up from her seat. " Are you expecting someone?"

I shook my head then several more loud bangs came through the door.

"Open up!" we heard someone yell.

Before we could get up the door flew open and Timothy walked in carrying a body on his shoulders. Mera and I both stood up and looked at him alarmed. My heart dropped when he carefully laid Kace on the floor.

"Timothy, what on earth....?" Mera said sounding as dazed as I was.

I looked at Kace laying on the floor gasping for air as sweat dripped from his forehead. With trembling hands, I knelt on the floor next to him.

"What happened?" I asked with my voice shaking.

"I don't know," Timothy said. He rolled Kace on his side and ripped his shirt open. I covered my mouth at the sight of the nasty wound on his left shoulder with a knife still stuck in it.

"Shit," Timothy cursed.

"We have to take it out," I said with growing panic.

"No," Timothy held my hand before I could pull at it. " It could be the only thing keeping him alive. "
