One year later

"Hi baby,"

" Hi—wow, you look amaz—incredible. "

" Do you think I achieved the graduation look?"

In a year I had completed my bachelor's, helped build a new wig at the animal shelter and was a full-time member. In a year Kace video chatted with me twice a day and I had only seen Kace physically twice. It took ten hours to fly from the Cresent pack to my city. Money and distance weren't the problem but Kace had been so busy that even the time he came to visit, it was precisely for two days and he had to travel back on the third early the next morning. From his two visits, it had been six months since I had seen him. I missed him terribly but I appreciate his effort to communicate with me despite his busy schedule. In only six months, the Cresent pack went from being the most dangerous and feared pack to the most respected because of the amount of change their Alpha and Beta successfully ushered in.

"I think you achieved more than that, you look stunning."

"Thank you," I said with a bright smile. " It's been a while since I had a full face of make-up on, so it feels a little different. "

"That's true, I haven't seen you with much makeup but it's definitely a good look, you'll be the prettiest girl there. "

" I still can't believe you won't be there though," I said looking away from my camera.

"I know, my love, but I didn't expect to have so much on my plate. "

Explaining to my parents that Timothy would be switching to online learning and wouldn't attend his graduation was the hard part. Of course, we didn't tell them that he's a wolf—yet, and we probably won't be telling them anytime soon. Imagine finding out that your son is a werewolf. It definitely took me out.

"I know but you're also graduating," I complained. " Doesn't that count somehow? Do you feel it's okay to miss your own graduation?"

"Well, no but we're behind time with all the construction going on here, and I'm also part of the team sketching up plans for the new buildings. "

"I know."

In a short amount of time, Kace and the rest of the pack members constructed new buildings which included hospitals, schools and houses with a focus on the most rural parts of the territory. It wasn't a surprise that everyone there worshipped the very ground he walked on. They were the dual they prayed for.

"I got you an amazing gift though. "

"A sewing machine or a bunch of socks or something," I said grimly.

" C'mon cheer up babe."

Before I could respond I heard a knock from his end and the door opening.

"Alpha Cohen, Alpha Nikolas and his wife are on the phone wanting to discuss his proposal. "

"Of course, tell him I'll be right there. "

He looked back at the camera and he could tell I wasn't happy.

" I'll call you after the ceremony okay?"

"Okay."

"I love you"

"Yeah, sure."

He smirked and let out a laugh. " Come on, don't be like that."

"I love you too," I said with a smile that didn't reach my eyes.

He hung up and I got up from my seat to wear the sparkly nude dress that was neatly spread on my bed that Mera and my mom persistently said I should get emphasizing it would look good while giving the valediction speech. When I was fully dressed I went to check on Mera in her room. She wasn't too happy either when she learned that Timothy wouldn't be showing up for graduation day but she quickly got over it.
