"Escape Reality" [ Kimetsu No Yaiba/Demon Slayer ]

"When all of this is over..will you marry me?" 💜

How would they react to their best friend asking if they could marry them after the final battle against Muzan? 🤔

For context, this takes place a few days before the battle begins! Reader is a Hashira!

Giyu Tomioka

 "..If you'll have me then..yes."

Giyu is shocked that you asked him such a question. He never thought you'd look his way, let alone want to marry him. It warms his heart but at the same time breaks it. His survival is not guaranteed nor is yours. As Hashira, you two will be at the front of the lines which can be very dangerous. In all honesty, he doesn't expect himself to last long in the fight..

But for the sake of this one night. For the sake of your happiness. He'll forget about all of that and instead focus on you. His, hopefully, soon to be wife.

Obanai Iguro

 "I'm sorry..but no."

Obanai doesn't think he deserves your love. With this tainted blood running through his veins a future for him was never something he yearned for. He loves you. He truly does with all of his heart and soul but the thought of your children having his disgusting blood running through them makes him shudder. You deserve better then this. Better then this life you're living. Better than him.

Hopefully in his next life things will be different..

Mitsuri Kanroji

 "Yes! Yes! Yes! Of course I'll marry you!"

Mitsuri accepts with a cherry blush on her cheeks and ignores the fear that strains her heart. She knows that neither of you are invincible and no matter how much she wants to pretend that everything will be alright and that everyone will survive, she can't deny the truth. At the same time the thought of her life's wish finally being fulfilled after a long, hard, grueling battle makes her heart sing. Even if it's only her wishful thoughts or her optimism keeping her together, she can't wait to see you in a wedding dress when all of this is over.  

Shinobu Kocho

 "Of course."

Shinobu lies to your face with a smile on her face and guilt weighing heavy on her heart. She doesn't plan to see the final battle through to the end. Not at all. Even so, the thought of your sad face after being rejected, the thought of breaking your heart, it isn't what she wants to remember in her last moments. And so, she indulges in her lie wholeheartedly, she puts on her mask and her glass smile and listens to your excited rambles about the future with gritted teeth.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

 "..No. I.. I can't."

Sanemi's father was a piece of shit. He was mean, abusive, and the man he absolutely does not want to be. It's not like he doesn't want to marry you. He'd love to. He loves you but he's scared- no, terrified that he'd end up just like that lowlife. Even if you always reassure him that he's nothing like him, it's kind of hard to believe that with his blood flowing through his veins and the scars of the past deeds he's not so proud of.

But hey, maybe something'll happen that'll change his mind. That is, if he doesn't bit the bullet before it happens.

Kyojuro Rengoku

 "Ahahaha~! Of course! I'd be honored to be your husband!"

Kyojuro accepts with his usual enthusiasm and his bright smile. He knows reality painfully well but even if the back of his mind is screaming with reason, he'll look passed it just to see you smile at him.

And don't worry, he swears to you that he will marry you and he means that with all of his heart. You will be his wife. Whether it'd be in this life or his next.

Tanjiro Kamado

 "I'd love that.."

Tanjiro gives you a small, sort of..bittersweet smile. He's not as strong as Himejima or Kanroji nor is he as fast or as crafty as you or Kocho. Despite that, he indulges in his fantasies and accepts your proposal. Even if he isn't able to keep up his end of the bargain in the end, he prays that someone else will fill his spot, take his place as you husband, and give you the happiness you deserve.

Muichiro Tokito

 "Yes. When all of this is over.. I'll make you the happiest woman ever. I swear it."

Muichiro doesn't know what the future has in store for him. The world is a cruel place where anything could happen to him or you. Nothing is guaranteed but that doesn't shake him all that much. That's because he's made you a promise that he intends to keep and if the world has a problem with that it can take it up with him personally. ( Although, he can't promise that he'll come out on top of that fight )

Yuichiro Tokito

 "You should be worried about other things right now."

Yuichiro loves you but he can't deny the fact that you two are only humans. You get sick and bleed, break down easily, and when you lose limbs they're gone forever. Because of that logic, he simply can't make promises. He just can't bear to lie even if it's for your sake. He doesn't care for the consequences all that much. How this could easily cost him this wonderful friendship he's worked so hard to maintain. How you could stop talking with him. He doesn't care. So be it, he says. Because as much as it hurts him to deny you this temporary satisfaction, it'll absolutely break him if he ends up breaking your heart in the end.

Zenitsu Agatsuma

 "I can't make any concrete promises..but yes. I'd be honored to marry you."

Zenitsu isn't the strongest. He knows that more than anyone else. He could easily go out there and get killed just like that. Even so, the thought of you all dolled up, wearing a beautiful gown with a smile on your face brings a smile to his own face. He doesn't care if he's being completely delusional either because at least he can be delusional with you. Even if those delusions only last you two a single night before reality comes crushes they into ash. 

Kanao Tsuyuri

 "Yes."

Kanao doesn't think much of anything when she answers you. Not of the past. Not of the present. Not of the future. She doesn't care about any of that in this moment because right now, you two are in a huge bubble together. Smiling and blushing as you allow your fantasies to drown you both in temporary relief and happiness. 

Inosuke Hashibira

 "Okay, sure."

Inosuke doesn't think much of marriage but seeing as you seemed so happy when talking about it, it's peeked his interest. He doesn't exactly know why you suddenly asked him such a question but part of him is happy. Even if his body doesn't get why it's happy or what happiness even is to him, he basks in the feeling while it lasts. Who knows, this could be the last time he'll ever get to.

Gyomei Himejima

 "I'm sorry but only fate can decide the answer to that.."

Gyomei knows how harsh the world is. How cruel and savage it can be. Realistically speaking, the chances of the both of you making out of the final battle is slim especially when the both of you plan to go all out in order to defeat Muzan once and for all. The more likely outcome is if you both died in the final battle..

But you never know. Fate is like a swinging pendulum. It could go either way. 

Kanae Kocho

 "I can't make a promise like that, Y/n."

Kanae has tasted death a few times in the past. She knows how quick it could happen and the damages it leaves in its wake. It's not likely that she'll survive the battle against Muzan. In fact there's a greater chance of something else killing her before she even gets to see what he looks like. That being said, she doesn't want to make you hopeful, to relieve you of your troubles because she's scared of what'll happen and what sorrows death could possibly bring to you.
