Stef's : POV
The girls and I are out at the Seattle zoo
We've seen everything from polar bears to
Elephants zebras, monkeys, lions, and so on
Grace wanted to see the tigers but the lady told us they were sleeping so we went over to look at the pink flamingos. Overall we were having a good time, the food here was too expensive. So I packed up some sandwiches and apple slices juice boxes
I knew Lena was probably trying to call me
But I left my phone  in the car on the charger cause it was on twelve percent, l'm gonna call her once we get back to the house. I pushed the girls in the stroller instead of carrying them around in my arm, hope was heavier than Grace who was light. We're walking over to see crocodiles in the water, mama l gotta to the bathroom can you take us please Grace says to me. It's not often both of them had to use the restroom at the same time, these kids can be rather sneaky when there together. I always keep a close eye on hope cause she usually is the ring leader of mischief and Grace tries not to follow after her sister, Grace is the queen of hiding other people's belongings. Other than that their very well mannered children. Coming this fall they will be starting preschool, Lena's been working with them on basic concepts such as ABC's numbers, shapes
She's even been teaching Hope how to write her name. Lena taught Grace two weeks ago, they know how to read
I remember one night l came from working at the restaurant they were reading the little engine that could. I was in impressed
It takes Hope a little more time to process certain things, the pediatrician wants to have her tested for dyslexia because she writes backwards. It was hard hearing that your child might have a learning disability
Hope's appointment is set up for next month on the 21st of May 10:00 am,
They want us to arrive an hour early
The test itself is three hours long.
Of course Lena blames herself, l told her it was nothing she did to cause this to happen
Momma l finished Grace came out the stall
I picked her up so she could wash her hands in the sink once Grace was done
I handed her a paper towel to dry her hands off. An older woman came in the bathroom and looked at me strangely
Hope walked over towards me and repeated the same action as l did Grace,
What the hell was this woman looking at
Momma when's mommy coming back hope looked up at me and said, oh baby mommy and your sister will be home tomorrow afternoon. Mama why is that lady looking at us, mommy always said it isn't polite to stare Grace states out loud. Yes babe she's right Stef replies as they exit the bathroom
Climbed back in the twin strollers Stef pushed in the direction of the gift shop to get souvenirs for the trip home, that woman acted like she's never biracial twins before or something. I know there's people out there who have never seen an interracial families, l want our children to never be ashamed of where they come from. Lena and I have had our share of nasty comments about us being a couple
