Special Chapter: Ruby's Birthday

That's right! This original chapter will be all about our dear Ruby celebrating her birthday, both in real life and in the show itself! I had to do some research on when these volumes roughly take place, and it said that Ruby turns 17 after Volume 5 ends, which is why I am doing this chapter after the battle of Haven.

*1st Person POV*

A few days after the battle at Haven, we were relaxing and also preparing for our eventual trip to get to Atlas. It was going to take a while, so we decided to spend our remaining days doing other things here in Mistral. And today happens to be a special day.

Why you ask? It's because today happens to be Halloween, but it also happens to be my girlfriend Ruby's birthday! She turns 17 today, which means we are both 17 now.

Right now, it is about noon-ish, and the two of us are on a date, walking around the streets of Mistral. While this was nice, the other part to this plan is quite a pain in the butt.

*Flashback*

I was sitting in the living room, enjoying my café con leche at 10 in the morning when Yang walked up to me.

Yang: "Hey Azure!"

Azure: "Hey, Yang! You need something?"

Yang: "Actually, yeah! You do know what today is, right?"

I placed my cup on the table and took a second to try and remember what today is. Today is October 31st, which means...

Azure: "Oh! It's Ruby's birthday!"

Yang: "That's right! It's your girlfriend and my little sister's birthday! Oh, today is going to be fun!" She then got serious as she looked me in the eyes. "I have a little request that I need you to do. Could you keep her occupied for a few hours while the rest of us get the stuff needed to have the party all ready for the evening?"

Azure: "Sure, but how would I be able to keep her occupied for that long? She might want to come back soon while you guys are still preparing the party."

Yang: "And that is where my plan comes into play!" She hands me a little paper titled 'Date Plan' that shows a schedule of a few events that should last about eight hours in total. "Look over this schedule, stick to it, and this should give us enough time to get done with everything here. It's simple enough!"

I looked at the events written down and they seem alright for me and Ruby. I look at Yang with a smile.

Azure: "All right. Let's get this plan started right away! I'm gonna invite Ruby to our date! Good luck to all of you!"

Yang: "Good luck and take care of her, alright?"

Azure: "You got it!"

I picked up my cup and drank the rest of the cafe con leche before walking upstairs and knocking on Ruby's room door.

Azure: "Hey Ruby, do you want to go on a date right now?"

Ruby: "Yes! I'll be ready in a few minutes!"

Azure: "Okay! I'll be waiting outside!"

I waited a few minutes while looking at the schedule I was given. I heard the door open and I put the paper back in my right pocket.

Ruby: "Shall we get going?"

Azure: "Yeah! Let's get going!"
