Donghee was alone once again.
Minji had gone out with her Australian friends, leaving Donghee alone at the apartment. To be fair, Donghee wanted time to herself. Three months had passed and the heavy feeling of guilt never left her chest.
It was knowing that Jihyeon was gone, hopefully resting peacefully, but still gone. It was knowing that Donghee couldn't even help it. It still dwelled in her. Today was just one of those days where everything fell onto her shoulders.
It wasn't anything she couldn't handle, Donghee convinced herself. She shut herself away convincing herself that she was okay. Donghee convinced herself that she had already grieved Jihyeon's death and that it was enough.
Suddenly, Donghee's phone began to ring. She picked up the phone seeing that Jaemin was the one calling her. She took a deep breath to recompose herself before turning on her camera.
"Hi baby!" Jaemin's face lit up seeing Donghee's face.
"Hi Jaemin." Her voice was tired and quiet, it worried Jaemin. His brows furrowed as he examined Donghee's features. He noticed the slight bags under her eyes and the redness in them. Her lips seemed more pale than usual with only a slight pale pink hue brushed on her lips.
"Baby? Do you want me to listen?" Donghee looked up at him confused.
"Listen to what?"
"You. You look like you need someone to listen." Jaemin had a frown on his lips.
He knew Donghee. He knew that she wouldn't have wanted to bother anyone with her problems. Donghee didn't want to be a burden. She must've held everything in, crying and dealing with everything by herself.
"Donghee," It almost felt weird hearing her name from Jaemin, "you know you can tell me anything right?"
Jaemin knew her behaviour, but it was unsettling knowing she didn't even tell him anything. He wanted her to lean on his shoulder. He wanted her to burden him. He wanted her to know that he was there.
"I..I've just been having some bad dreams I guess. Everything with Jihyeon, mum, you guys. It scares me that Yeonhee is still alive somewhere. What if she tries to do something and I'm not there to help?" Donghee looked down at her hands that held themselves in her lap.
"Baby you don't have to worry about us okay? There's like 23 of us, we'll handle everything perfectly fine okay? You take your time on holiday and relax, okay? Focus on yourself baby."
"I know but..I didn't want burden you.." Donghee frowned, tears brimming in her eyes at the thought of Yeonhee doing something.
"Sunshine, I want you to burden me. I want you to annoy me and bother me. I want you to call me at 3 am crying and spilling your heart out. I want to be burdened by you, sunshine."
"But-"
"No buts. The sun doesn't shine until after the rain."
