"Matarani mein aaj phir se late ho gaye..." Hurridely climbing up the lobby stairs, the only thing that was circling in my mind was what if they went to bed empty stomach.
The late hours at the hospital had become all too familiar, but tonight, the weight of my absence was pressing down harder than usual.
To my entire ride upto our floor I was cursing myself. Maine vaada kiya tha unhe... I promised them to be on time, but just couldn't help myself from choaking that promise again.
The minute I crashed into the house I saw zoya our house help busy setting up the dinner table.
"Itni shaanti kaise hai..." Thinking my eyes scanned the entire place.
"zoya, bacche so gaye kya...?"
"You have three kids Anokhi..." she gazed at me with her sassy eyes.
"Tum kaun se wale bacche ki baat kar rahe ho..." That wide smile on her face said it all.
"Zoyaaaa...." I rolled my eyes in return.
How I wish I learn those tips and tricks as how effortlessly she manages to pull my legs everytime.
"Mein Vansh aur Yuvaan ki baat kar rahi hu... wo so gaye kya..." I asked keeping my handbag aside.
"Aur unhone time se dinner to kiya tha na..."
Before she could even reply, my two little munchkins emerged from the hallway.
"Mumma..." They called in unison and came running towards me.
"How many times do we have to remind you to please talk softly..."
"Dad is sleeping inside na..." vansh completed adjusting his Harry Potter inspired round spects on his nose tip.
He was an exact carbon copy of his father. Nerd yet cute like him.
"Is he already home...?" An amused me looked back at zoya, and she raised her shoulders shrugging at me, as if I shouldn't have got surprised to find him home.
