Imagine for xGentleJoshuax

You walk into the old bookshop and you hear the bell signaling your arrival. The store owner sees you and waves.

"Y/N! We have new stock today. They're over by the back. I'm sure you'll love 'em!" He smiles excitedly.

You smile back.

"Thank you! I'll be sure to check them out."

You've coming to this shop every week for about a year to just sit and read the books they have. You're friends with the owner so he let's you in anytime.

You walk to the back of the store, which you expect to be empty. Except its not. In the old comfy armchair where you usually sit to read, there is a boy of about your age. He sits with head phones in, reading a book with a wide eyed expression. You can't help but notice how extremely good looking he was.

You feel self conscious as you walk to the book shelf next to him. His good looks intimitaed you and you find yourself wondering if you looked okay.

You crouch down to look at the books at the bottom of the shelf, but you can't really find one that stands out to you. You crouch for quite a while, still searching.

"Try this one." You hear a soft voice say.

You the, while crouching, look to see the boy looking at you with kind eyes. He holds out a book to you. One of his ear phones dangles out of his ear.

"Er, thank you." You take the book and cringe at how awkward you sound.

"No problem." He says, smiling at you. You give a cringe worthy smile back to him and sit down on the chair next to his. You open the book and start read but you can see him looking at you from the corner of your eye.

"What's your name?" He asks. You turn your head to meet his gaze.

"Y/N." You reply.

"I'm Joshua." He says and he holds out his hand. You shake it and smile. Wow, you think, what a gentleman.

"Do you come here often? I don't think I've seen you here before." You ask, attempting to make comversation.

"No I've just moved here and I thought I should check out the good book shops while I was getting to know the area. Do you read a lot?" He leans toward you a little, as if very interested in your answer.

"All the time if I can. You?"

"Yes! I love reading. What books do you like?" He said, his face lighting up with excitment. It was incredibly cute.

You both start up a conversation about your favourtie genre. The books you were both reading were lying on your laps, forgotten.

Eventually the conversation wears out and you struggle to find another topic to start a comversation about. You really wanted to keep talking to him.

"So, what're you listening to?" You ask.

He holds out the ear phone he pulled out earlier and offers it to you.

"Have a listen." He says. You lean over the armchairs toward him and take the earphone, your hand brushing his in the process. You put it too your ear and you hear the familiar sounds of am oldish song. You laugh out loud.

"What?" He asks, surprised.

"'Sexy can I?' Really?" You say, still giggling.

"What's wrong with it?" He asks, innocently.

"It just doesn't seem like you." You reply. A few minutes ago you were calling him a gentleman and all.

"Why do people always say that?" He grumbles, but he's not really irritated.

"I'm sorry. I guess you shouldn't judge a book by its cover." You laugh at your own joke.

He looks at you curiously, head slightly to the side and doesn't laugh.

"Yeah." Is all he says.

You cough awkwardly and decide its time to leave.

"Well I'll be going. Thanks for recommending this, it seems really good."

He stares at you, as if in a daze, before shaking his head.

"Oh okay. And no problem. I hope I see you again, Y/N." He says, giving you a warm smile.

"Me too. Thank you." Ugh. Still being awkward. You walk to the front desk, book in hand.

"Just this, sweetie?" The cashier asks.

"Yeah. Hold on let me get my mon- oh." You stop when you see the contents of your purse.

"What is it?"

"Uh, never mind. About the book. I'll just be going." You leave the book on the desk and walk out of the store. How could you forget to bring some money to your favorite shop?

You start walking down the street, thinking of your time with Joshua. You hope he didn't see what happened at the desk. But you still smile at the thought of him.

"I will definitely make sure to see him again." You whisper to yourself.

Your wish is granted sooner than you think when you hear a voice behind you.

"Wait, Y/N!"

You turn to see Joshua running down the street toward you. He catches up to you and stands close. He smiles and holds a brown paper bag out to you.

"You forgot this." He pushes the bag into your hands. You open it to see the book that you couldn't buy.

"Read it as soon as you get home, okay? Goodbye." He leans in and gently kisses your cheek before running off. You didn't even manage to get a word out to him. You didn't even get to say thank you.

It was only when you got home did your realize that you would get a chance to say thank you. It was only when you opened the book and a piece of paper came out saying:-

I loved meeting you today. Take this book as a gift to say thanks in advance to maybe going out with me some time? Call me ***** *****

You would definitely see Joshua again.

That cheeky gentleman.
