A birth control pill is a way to prevent pregnancy. Plain and simple. There are many different birth contraceptions, but a birth control pill is 99.9% effective and all you have to do is pop one in your mouth everyday. Very awesome, very great.
I'm not here to argue if it's okay to have an abortion or not and all of that (maybe later), I'm just here to tell you that if you don't want a bun in the oven when you are sexually active, birth control maybe your hero is brightly colored red spanx.
But remember, birth control doesn't protect against STD's. So tell Jimmy to but a condom on that shooter.
