Chapter 5: Fishing for Money

Rin's P.O.V

"Sakura and Ino, I want you two to collect herbs.. It will be very useful for our journey.." Shikamaru said and they nodded.

We all had Earth Kingdom disguises on..

We relocated to a cave in a nearby Earth Kingdom village which we are planning to go into.

"Choji, Naruto, and Sai... You will be staying here.." Shikamaru said.
"What?! Oh come on!!" Naruto yelled.
"Naruto... You'll be needed for future assignments. Just stay put." Sakura said and Naruto frowned.
"Whatever..."
"Sai, you are in charge. Make sure those two stay out of trouble."
"Ok.."

"Umm... Shikamaru, what about me?" I asked him.
"You and I are going into the village." He said.

"But first, start the fire.."

Shikamaru and I enter the village.
He told me we needed food and information on the Avatar and his friends.

"Ooohh! How much are these apples?" I asked.
"5 copper pieces!"
"5 copper what?" I asked confused. Then Shikamaru dragged me away from the shops.

"It looks like we need to earn money... They range from copper, silver, and gold pieces..." He said.
"So we need a job..." I said sighing...

"I'm not going out on the water's, a storm is coming!"
"There isn't a single cloud in the sky! You are wrong!"
"Remember what happened last time?"
"I'm most definite it won't happen this time!"
"You doubted me last when even that Avatar kid told you about the storm!"

"The Avatar?" Shikamaru asked butting into their conversation.
"Yes the avatar!" The man said.
"Have you seen a bison around here recently?" Shikamaru asked.
"Actually we did, it was-" the man cut off the woman.
"Why do you need that information?" He asked.
"That's not your concern." Shikamaru said.
"Then why should we give you that information?"
"We'll go out with you on the water! We'll get paid right? We are new to the area so we don't really have any resources..." I said and the man gave me a weird look.
"Alright! I'll give you the information if you go fishing with me. I'll give you 30 copper coins and 10 silver coins if you two can catch 50 fish... You two look like you've never fished before..." He said.
Shikamaru and I nodded.

"What are your names?"
"My names Shikamaru, and this is my friend Rin."

Shikamaru and I were out at sea with the fisherman.

"Better start fishing those fish newbies." He laughed.

Shikamaru's P.O.V

Rin and I had a plan.
We weren't going to fish normally.. That'd take too long.

"Sir! Look over there!" Rin ran to him distracting him.

"Ninja Art! Shadow Stitching Jutsu!" I managed to catch 10 fish.
"What are you talking about little girl?!" I immediately dropped the fish on deck.

"What the- you just caught 10 fish right now?!" He asked shocked.
I smirked, "Yup. I got really lucky."

He looked like his life was sucked out of him... He definitely didn't want to give us any money.

"Sir!  Look at this!" Rin said and did a few backflips and landed into the splits.

"Ninja Art.  Shadow Stitching Jutsu!" I caught 10 fish again.

30 more to go.

"You kids are so energetic these days!  That's really cool."

The man turned around, "20 FISH ALREADY?!  NOT EVEN I CAN CATCH THAT MUCH FISH THAT QUICKLY!"
"Well a storm's coming, we must be as quick as possible." I said.
"Rin come here..." I called her over and she came.
"No fire style or lightning style Jutsus will help me here.." She said frowning.
"Don't worry about it."
Rin looked at me as an idea popped into her head.
"I'm going to jump in and throw you the fish."
"WHAT?!" Both me and the fisherman said.
"We could really use the money.  It's worth the risk." She said and jumped in.
"Rin!  You are crazy!" I yelled and she smirked.
"I know."
