Bentley's POV

I didn't like flying too much. It wasn't even a long flight, I just didn't like being so go high up in the air. But I was going to fly every damn month for my job. I was a good employee.

As I laid in my hotel room later that night, I thought of how I told Layla that I loved her. I was telling the truth, I just couldn't believe I told her. A lot of people would say I was crazy for saying 'I love you' after three months, but I had known Layla since she was born. When she was only a three weeks old, her parents brought her to church and with their help, I got to hold her. We weren't just some silly teenagers. (well she was a teenager but she wasn't a silly one) we weren't silly teenagers who fell in love way too quickly, we were two people who had a history, who had a friendship that grew. I mean during youth group (when I was still young enough to go) she was my partner in crime, I liked her back then, I just wasn't aware that she had feelings for me too. Now those feelings were clear. I loved her. It was scary and exciting and nerve wracking , but it was a great feeling.

I got up the next morning and headed to the office. I wasn't use to Texas. Don't get me wrong, Austin was a great place, but I missed the people at home. If everyone was with with me, then Texas would be perfect.

Molly, my new assistant, picked me up and showed me around. She looked to be about a year younger than me, she was a pretty girl. She had dirty blonde wavy hair and brown eyes, with a nice tan. Like I said pretty, but she wasn't Layla. She was a nice girl though. She didn't seem like the type that mixed work with pleasure, and for that I was glad.

We got to the building and she informed me of my schedule as we walked around touring the company. Finally though, I got to see my office. I looked down at my phone to check the time, 11:00. Good, I could call Layla.

"Uh Ms. Meester.." I said to Molly as she closed the door to my office.

"Sir?" She asked stepping forward with the plans to one of our company's new projects.

"Do I have time to make a call before the meeting?"

"Yes sir. And Mr. Lake, you can call me Molly. Ms. Meester makes me feel old."

"Then you call me Bentley." I told her.

"I'm not suppose to, but I guess when it's the two of Bentley is okay." She said. "You have ten minutes, you'd better go ahead and make that call.

I quickly dialed Layla's number and pressed send.

"Hello?" She answered sounding a little sad.

"Hey, it's me. I just wanted to call and check on you." I told her.

"Bentley!?" She said immediately sounding more cheerful. "How is everything out there?" She asked.

"It's good, it's a nice town and my new office is pretty great. I don't have much time but I just wanted to talk to you."

"I miss you." She said.

"I miss you too, I'll call you later okay?"

"Alright."

"I love you." I told her.

"I love you too." She said and then I hung up.

"Girlfriend?" Molly said from her desk.

"Yeah, she's back home." I told her.

"I know how long distance relationships are. My boyfriend isn't around here either." She said.

"It's tough." I said stating the obvious.

"It is, but your relationship is going to be harder." She told me.

"What so you mean?" I asked.

"Look, you know how demanding this job is, and with this promotion it's only going to get worse. You aren't going to have time for that girl. You're barely going to see her, your main focus is going to be work. It's not going to be fair to her. I'm not saying don't get into a relationship, I did, but you need someone who will work just as much as you, you need someone who is equally as ambitious and will understand that work is the most important thing and most importantly, you need someone who is here. Don't drag that girl along because you're only going to hurt her."

"And what about your relationship?" I asked. I was pretty ticked off that she was telling me what to do, when she was in a long distance relationship as well.

"Peter is in the Air Force. I see him once a year, maybe. We're both focused on our jobs, and when he comes home I can take vacation days."

"I can take Vacation days for Layla." I said.

"All I can give Peter are my vacation days because that's the only time he is home, but your girl isn't in another country. She deserves more than your vacation days." Molly told me.

And she was right. Layla did deserve more than just a weekend boyfriend. But that was all I could be at the moment and I was too selfish to give her up. I was going to do my best to make this relationship work. Layla and I would work together, we would figure out a way that I could do my job and be the guy that she needed.

My ten minutes were up and I was  needed in the board room to discuss the new project. I walked in and Molly introduced me to a group of older men, a couple of women who were all over me and they congratulated me on the promotion. I smiled and said thank you, then I took my seat. Molly stood toward the back of the room, leaving the seat next to me open. I looked down at the stack of papers in front of me and I immediately got bored. This promotion was going to be a lot of work.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone sit down next to me. Naturally, I looked up, and found a beautiful lady sitting next to me. She was probably my age, give or take a few months. She was blonde with hazel eyes, she seemed like one of the girls who knew they were pretty, she just had that confidence about her.

"You must be Mr. Lake." She said turning to me and smiling brightly.

"Yes and you are?" I asked extending my hand to shake her hand.

"I'm Kate Randall." She said gripping my hand. I looked over to Molly who was rolling her eyes. I guess they didn't get along. Kate seemed nice though.

"Nice to meet you."  I said.

"Let me know if I can assist you in any way, Mr. Lake." She said kindly. She kept a bright cheery smile in her face.

"Bentley." I corrected her.

"Bentley, right. And you can call me, Kate." She said again smiling at me.

Yeah I know the girl was a little too friendly but I could straighten that out. The meeting began though and we got down to business. Everyone here was always focused. Work was the most important factor in their life.  All I could think though, was that they needed to get out more.

A/N well now y'all got to see inside of Bentley's head a little. What do you think of Molly? What about Kate? Any ideas about what will happen?
