I still remember when the idea of this story popped up in my mind way back in 2014. It was November and it was evening (which my mind always seemed to spit plot ideas). I wrote this novel for almost a year from April 13, 2015, to March 13, 2016.
I had so many struggles habang sinusulat ko 'to since una, it's my first time writing at pangalawa, I literally didn't have any idea to how the story should go. Minsan nakatulala na lang ako at iniisip at pina-polish 'yong plot and every time na may susulpot ay sinusulat ko kaagad dahil baka makalimutan ko pa. To be honest with you guys, I hated reading and writing when I was an elementary student and now since college na ako nadiscover ko na may talent pala ako sa pagsusulat. Yes, I know I'm not the best compared to the Filipino published author's out there but no one's already good at the beginning, right?
The story behind this was that when I was in the stage of writing this novel, I was having my own identity crisis. Tulad na lang ni Cade. Hindi niya kaagad tinanggap ang sarili niya kaya naman ang daming nawala sa kaniya. I was that kid four years ago. I did not accept myself to the point I was losing something. But then, I grew confident when I found people like me—people who do not follow the conventional rules that are being upheld in our society. I felt I belonged and out of the people who did not accept me there were still those who loved me and would fight beside me.
Before I forget, God's Cage will be having its second novel titled God's Rise. I have decided na gawing trilogy na ang kwentong ito. 'Yon lang at maraming salamat!
