Chapter 22

Flora POV

"Okay," everyone says in unison.

"I say we save Roxy and Stella first. Roxy somehow managed to establish a mental connection with me from inside the Black Circle. It's likely that Stella is there, too," I inform them.

"How do we get them out without dying? The place is likely guarded and the atmosphere has an eighty-one percent chance of tiring us out after three hours and weakening Flora's magic," Tecna states.

I shrug, "It won't be easy. But we don't have a choice. We have to save them!"

"No kidding," Bloom sighs.

"I could be used as a distraction while you get the girls out," I suggest.

No one replies, but I can sense that they don't think it's a good idea.

"How do you expect to get in there?" Sky asks.

"We won't even know where Roxy or Stella are!" Brandon adds.

"They might not even be there!" Musa sits down next to Tecna on a nearby bench.

"I know, but we need to take risks. If it comes down to it I'll distract them," I say, earning some uneasy looks.

"Oh, come on. I can handle them," I fold my arms.

"Yeah. You've done that loads," Aisha remarks, causing me to shoot her a disappointed look.

I don't blame her for getting angry. This is taking a huge toll on us all. I need to keep calm otherwise things won't turn out well.

"Okay, okay, listen. We're wasting time. I've got an idea," I tell them. Everyone looks at me expectantly.

"I'm not sure if it'll work, but-" I close my eyes tightly, and spread out my arms in front of me with the palms of my hands facing outward.

I focus on my magic and slowly open my eyes.

"It worked," I gasp, "I don't believe it!"

"Wait, please don't tell me this is what I think it is," Aisha gasps too.

"How did you do that? Unless-" Helia shakes his head.

I look at the portal I created. I guess this is proof that I am using dark magic. I feel awful. I wince as I feel a sharp pain in my head.

Maybe it's best if I don't do this again, I thought.

"I know, I've got a lot of explaining to do but that can wait right now," I say and everyone nods in agreement.

"Are you sure about this?" Bloom puts a hand on my shoulder.

I give a determined nod, "let's go."

The negative energy is much stronger than it was before.

I take a look around the place for the first time. Well, I was here before but I hadn't had a proper look at the place until now.

There isn't much to see. There are multiple caves and large boulders everywhere. I guess they don't call it the "dark circle" for nothing.
