First Day

Chapter 2 - First Day (picture above of Lydia)

Once again Lydia finds herself in the elevator patting her freshly dry cleaned grey pencil skirt and suit which covers most of her baby pink chiffon layered top. As she applies a fresh coat of shimmering lip gloss over her preciously pink lipstick she wonders if she will run into Kyle when she walks on the floor. Her heart skips a beat as she thinks about his handsome face.

When she gets off the elevator she makes her way to Francois's office to wait further instruction  upon arrival but his assistant, Tina comes out as soon as she sees Lydia settle in his office waiting for him.

T: Hello Lydia

L: (turns around) Hi there (gets up then extends her hand) How are you?

T: I am well thank you. Are you waiting for Francois?

L: Yes he said he will see me on my first day which is today

T: (rolls eyes) Typical!

L: What's wrong? 

T: Francois always does this, he says one thing then doesn't follow through, he doesn't bother to inform anyone either. We didn't know you were starting today

L: (wide eyed) He is not here?

T: He is traveling on business for the next week

L: Hmmm.... I didn't know that

T: Well he never told me when you are starting. I am pretty sure the phone or computer at your desk are not working, come let me show you to your office. I will call IT immediately

L: (shock) Yeah thanks that would be great

T: Let me see if anyone is around to show you where everything is, I need to mail a package and I don't know how long I will be. Come you sweet thing

L: Thank you Tina I really appreciate your help

T: No worries, get use to it. Francois doesn't explain anything, (annoyed) he thinks everyone is a mind reader

L: (mutters to herself) Just freaking terrific

Tina walks Lydia over to her office so she can drop her belongings then walks over to Kyle's office. Lydia's heart starts beating faster as she remembers what meeting him the first time was like. He was dashing, awkwardly charming but clearly uncomfortable around her. Her thoughts are interrupted when Tina announces.

T: He's not here either. Let me get someone in his team to show you around

They walk over to a large cubical which has a potted plant, some feng shui designs, a silk pillow with what looks like Chinese script on it and an assortment of various flavored teas. There is a slender Asian girl with light purple highlights sitting by the desk focused on her work.

T: Ah! Violet thank god you are here. Can you please show Lydia around?

V: Sure!

L: Thank you Tina. Hi Violet I am the new....(interrupts)

V: (blank tone) I know who you are

L: Eer....ok 

V: So let's do a round of the floor. I can show you where the pantry, the loo and the snack drawer is on our way

L: Yeah that would be great, thanks I really appreciate you taking the time to show me around

V: Aha!

Violet introduces Lydia to the people she will be working with, however it's still early leaving the office still fairly quiet. Lydia gets back to her office waiting for the IT contact assigned to set up her equipment to show up when she notices a very attractive girl with straight dark black hair accompanied with piercing blue eyes watching her. She offers a friendly smile but the girl looks away slamming her purse on the desk. Lydia flinches at the girl's reaction but chooses to ignore it.
