-Thank you for requesting! Enjoy!-

(Your Name) couldn't take her eyes off the piece of paper tucked under her slick palms. The pen slipped uncomfortably in her dominant hand as she busily scrawled down the words that floated in her mind. Her nose twitched as she scrunched her face up to push her glasses back up to her eyes as they slipped down in the process of slouching over. She could feel the heat rising up to her face as she came to the last sentence of her letter. For some reason, she felt like crying. The mere thought of rejection stabbed through her heart, she couldn't imagine how she would take it if it actually were to happen. But she was tired of hiding away and remaining distant to everybody; especially Lev.

"Yo (Your Name)! What you writing there!" Lev's voice booms against her ear, and she scrambles to shove it into her desk.

"N-nothing! What are you doing here, Lev?!" She manages to stutter out as she automatically flinches away from him.

It wasn't like she intended to pull away, but he was leaning over her desk...and being the antisocial bug of it all, she couldn't help but feel intimidated. Especially because he was twice her size. He seemed to notice immediately and drew back politely. Despite being a lumbering mess on most days, his sly eyes always picked up the slightest changes in her body language. He understood her down to the bone, and even if that did scare her immensely, it also felt quite reassuring to have somebody like him around.

"Just came to bug Sō out of his mind! Hehe, I'll see you around!" He grins before waving brightly, and (Your Name) found herself waving back.

As soon as he left the room with the rest of the first years for volleyball training, the perky atmosphere quickly dissipated and was replaced with a more dangerous and hostile environment. (Your Name) felt multiple eyes searing holes through her back, and she didn't dare turn around to catch sight of the group of malicious girls plotting her death. They were more vicious than a pack of wild cats, and she happened to be their usual slice of meat. She didn't understand why they enjoyed tormenting her so much, but being close friends with most of the volleyball team definitely had something to do with it. They saw her as a threat, as most of them were dying to get the boys' attention. Just as (Your Name) coincidently had the spotlight of favouritism from the whole team, they seemed to have had enough of her. Sensing something really bad, (Your Name) scrambled up to gather up her bag to escape what was about to be cruelly bestowed upon her. But a sense of defeat and doom settled upon her as the door was slammed shut by a perfectly manicured hand just before she could make it out alive.

"W-what's going on?!" (Your Name) tried to sound assertive, but instead a small and nearly audible squeak slipped through her teeth.

"Oh come on (Your Name), you're the top student in class and you can't figure out what we want from you?" (Hated Person's Name) sneered.

She feels a hard shove and then multiple hands begin to push her into the corner of the room until the storage locker clangs painfully against your back. It was an old and dusty contraption. The rust had eaten away at the metal and it shook violently as (Your Name)'s bullies practically stuffed her into the cramped space inside. The door groaned with her as it was clamped shut from the outside. She could hear the scratchy sounds of nails scrambling with the lock before the giggles and cackles dissipated down the halls.A sense of defeat washed over her. It wasn't like she was afraid of the dark, more like anxious that she would be stuck there overnight. The thought of being alone in a vast school after closing hours sent shivers up her chilled body. There was no way the janitor would be able to get her out anytime soon, so she resolved to find any possible way to get herself out of the trap she ran straight into. She may not have been the most vocal and intimidating person, but the girls were right about one thing, she was on the honour roll for 2 years straight.

But her newly found hope was sinking faster than the Titanic boat as her attempts of kicking and banging were proved to be in vain. Frustration and anger replaced her helplessness, and she pushed her entire weight against the door before realising a little too late that it was a horrible idea. The locker toppled over and crashed it's full weight into the marbled floor below. She might have blanked out for half a second, because when her vision returns, she felt lukewarm liquid dripping into her eye. A trembling hand is brought to her forehead and she took a whiff of the substance to recoil at the distinctive odour of iron. She stifled a sob before her ears perked up at the sounds of multiple footsteps dashing towards her room. The sound of the locker falling must have attracted every single one on the floor, including the upperclassmen who were lazing around in their classrooms before heading off to their extracurricular activities. The light is clicked on, and the container that she was squeezed into earlier was lifted upright by a couple of students and teachers.

Lev almost jumped out of his skin when he heard the deafening sound of something heavy falling over. He was just on his way to volleyball practice when the explosive incident occurred. He couldn't help but be a little curious as to what had happened, so he followed the crowd of pupils towards the source of the commotion. Apparently, he wasn't the only one that was genuinely captivated to know what happened. Something just didn't feel right at that moment, he felt like he was being watched. So he turned around to see a group of girls from (Your Name)'s class whispering to one another before slowly turning away and walking in the other direction. As suspicious and uneasy as Lev was, he pushed forward and poked his head through the door just in time to see the locker being pulled up and pried open. His eyes widened as he watched (Your Name)'s body tumble out and almost collapse. If it weren't for the teachers steadying her, she would've gotten a hardcore concussion.

That's when he noticed the bright red streak of blood dripping from what looked like a deep gash on her hairline. Lev could tell that she was terrified by the way her pupils dilated as she glanced around anxiously. She squinted her hazy eyes as if she'd been in there for quite some time.

Something must have happened.

Someone must've done this to her.

He wanted to comfort her and hold her before telling her that everything was okay, but he knew that wasn't possible when half of the entire school was present to witness the crime scene. Instead he just watched painfully as (Your Name)'s homeroom teachers began to escort her to the nurse's office. Judging by the excessive bleeding, she would need more than a bandaid. Before Lev could notice, the crowd had separated and he was the only one left in the classroom. He noticed the tables strewn across messily and predicted that she was pushed around beforehand. Anger boiled in his veins, but he forced himself to choke it down before he noticed a crumpled up piece of paper below (Your Name)'s desk. It must've fallen out of her table as it was pushed around. He swiftly smoothed out the creases before he started to read.

The next day (Your Name) returned to attend classes normally. Despite having to get stitches for her wound, she seemed perfectly composed yet again. The day went by smoothly, but the sudden intercom announcement that called the girls from yesterday into the principal's office. (Your Name)'s heart dropped as the fact that she hadn't tattled on them crossed her mind. Then who could've possibly seen and known what had happened?

"Hey (Your Name), how is your injury?" An apologetic Lev murmured as he sat across of you during recess.

"It's fine...really." You sighed before turning your head to secretly check if the girl's were back.

"They aren't going to bother you anymore," He said seriously before looking you dead in the eye. "I made sure of that."

"What? What do you mean?" You demanded in awe.

"I saw them yesterday, caught a glimpse of their faces just as they dipped out from the scene. Which was pretty obvious because they were the only ones that seemed disinterested about what happened."

"Why'd you do that for me? It's bound to cause you more trouble too." You asked exasperatedly.

You almost flinched in surprise as Lev reached over to run a soft finger along your cut. His eyes crinkled up in response to a small and affectionate smile.

"Are you stupid? It's because I want to protect you." He snorted playfully before pulling out a neatly folded square of paper and placing it in front of you. "Just hurry up and confess to me already so I can officially say that I have the right to be protective."
