Mark woke me up with a cute text message. I smiled, but then frowned when I remembered that dreaded Dark was still around. I heaved a great sigh and got out of bed. I showered, dried my hair, and got into some clean clothes. I peeked out the window and noticed rain. Today was a good day to pick sweats and a comfy tank top. I slipped into my favorite sandals and walked over to Mark's. Dark answered my knock. He mimicked my weak smile from the night before. "You are unhappy to see me." He said flatly. Suddenly I felt bad. What was I doing? That demon thing was Mark. "I'm not used to demons, Dark. I apologize for being so cold." Dark looked puzzled. "I am cold. My blood is cold, and also black...the demon realm of the underworld is cold, cold is good. Why apologize for something good?" "Dark, saying someone acts cold is like saying they're not being very nice...or very fair. I haven't really been fair to you." "So cold is bad?" "Well...not always...I'm confusing you aren't I?" Dark nodded. "I'm sorry for being rude. There." I extended my hand for a handshake. "What are you doing with your hand?" I had forgotten that Dark was unable to shake hands. Touch...feel...anything without Mark's blood being kissed into him. I felt bad for him. "Hey (y/n), change of plans, Dark wants to spend some time with you." Mark said. I was unsure. Dark put one hand behind his head and looked at the ground. "Yeeahhh, I did want to do that. I was warming up to that..." I looked at Dark, then at Mark, then at Dark again. "Okay, where to? Your place or mine?" I asked. "Mine." Dark snapped his fingers, and we disappeared in a big black cloud of smoke shaped like a vortex. Speaking of vortexes, we were traveling through one at a rapid pace. "Dark, I was joking! I thought we were gonna stay with Mark!" Dark just smiled at me as we continued to travel through space. When we landed we were in a place I had never seen before. It was beautiful. Peaceful and perfect. "Believe it or not this is the underworld." "Where you live?" "Eh. Kinda. I live over there." He said, motioning to a post apocalyptic red skied city. I made a face. "Don't worry, you can't go there. It's too much of a burden for people...you can't handle it." "So where are we then?" "The realm of the angels. I figured it would be nice to get to know you and what better place to do so than in the most beautiful place in the universe?" He was right. It was truly beautiful.  He laid down on the side of a hill and I laid right next to him. "So...what first?" Dark asked. I shrugged. "You tell me." Dark pondered for a moment. "Alright, I'm a demon, I'm evil, I live in the underworld, demons don't have parents or siblings, my favorite color is black, and I really hate cockroaches." "Cockroaches?" "Cockroaches. They disgust me." I laughed. "Well...I'm a human, I think I'm nice, I live on earth, my favorite color is (insert color), and I really hate spiders." "Well would you look at that-we're going to be best friends." I laughed again. "Is that so?" I asked. "Of course, look at all of the things we have in common." He laughed. "You should date Mark. He's good. He really likes you a lot." I knew that. "I plan to, but...I'm just a little worried." "Because of me?" He nailed it. "That's why. I'm just not used to seeing this. I'm not even on earth right now this is surreal." Dark looked hurt. "I shouldn't have come. I should've told Mark to leave things alone." I frowned. I'm so bad with people...er,demons sometimes. "Dark this is new to me. I'm beginning to like you." I said. "Just give me time to get used to you and your kind." Dark was quiet. Suddenly he snapped his fingers and a picnic appeared before us. "Just in case you're hungry again." He said flippantly. Our eyes met. He placed his hand over mine. "In this world humans and spirits can touch without bloodshed. Is that ok?" I didn't mind. His skin felt cold to the touch, a direct contrast to my own. "Yes." I said, studying his skin. "If you want we can go back. There is no need to stay if you aren't enjoying yourself." "No, that's fine...what are they?" I asked pointing to a bright white light shaped like a human. "Guardian angels. Nothing to worry about, they're friendly. They're just probably wondering why I'm here. This isn't my realm." I watched the so-called guardian angel drift into the sky. "Where is she going?" I asked. "To help someone I guess. That's their job. People get into trouble...big trouble and angels go out to help." Dark said. "You know, technically I'm an angel, but I'm still a demon. I'm made up of evil...but my purpose is to serve as a reminder to control your temper or you will be in my control." I looked at Dark differently after that. "Really?" I asked. "Yes, really. I never came here to hurt anyone. Not you, not Mark...but I get why you're so afraid. I suppose I would be too if I were a human." I didn't know what to say, so I kissed him, and he kissed me back. His kiss was surprisingly gentle. He nipped at my lower lip, asking for entry, and I obliged. He deepened the kiss, exploring my mouth with his cold tongue. When I pulled away, I saw a dark blush on his face. "Well..." I said. "I think I like having you around." Dark smiled. "I'm glad. I'm very glad. I was afraid you wouldn't like me." "I was too. I was afraid I'd have to tell Mark to leave me alone...but I know better now. The two of you...the three of us, we're just meant to be together." I laid my head on Dark's chest. "Now...if you wouldn't mind, I think we should head back. I need to tell Mark yes." "I'm glad. After this experience I doubt I'll need his blood on my lips to be felt. I feel strangely alive now..."
