Two-Bit's pov

A long day of work. All thanks to trying to get AJ back. She wanted me to grow up, but I've had no luck finding her, to make things right with her. But now I'm in a new relationship with my girl Kathy. She wasn't nearly as beautiful as AJ, but I guess I'd learn to love her.

I plopped down at my desk in the study. "Two, you home?" Kathy's voice floated into the room. "Yeah," I mumbled, rubbing my eyes. "Dinner will be ready soon," she said.

I was about to answer when the phone rang. "I got it!" I yelled, picking up the landline on my desk. "Hello?" I asked. I heard sniffles and quiet sobs on the other end. I was confused until I heard the voice on the other end. "Hey Two, its me."

"AJ? Honey, why are you calling so late? What's going on?" I asked worrriedly. "Who is it Two?" Kathy called. "My friend from work," I yelled back.

"I'm sorry if  I'm interrupting something Two, but your the only one I thought would help me," she cried silently. The Curtises hated her for leaving town. Steve and Dallas had the same problem with her. She wouldn't be able to reach Johnny. We were the only friends she had.

"What's wrong babe?" I asked, falling back in love as fast as I had the first time. "Can you talk? I don't have long before-" but she didn't continue that sentence. "Um, well, my girl's in the next room," I said, embarrassed.

"If you don't want to talk, that's ok. I-I-I could try-" but I interrupted her. "No! I can talk. What's the matter?" I asked. AJ was acting different. She was never so, what's the word? Passive.

"I know I have no right to ask, but Two, I need your help. My my-" but she stopped talking, inhaling quickly. "Your what?" I asked, on edge.

"My boyfriend. He's-he's-" She coudn't finish the sentence, but I caught her drift.

"AJ, where are you?" I asked. "You don't have to come get me Two," she whispered. "I'm glad you've found someone. Enjoy your night. I'm sorry I interrupted. I'll...leave you alone," she whispered. "Don't hang up!" I almost yelled.

"No Two, I shouldn't have called and ruined your evening..." she was muttering. "AJ, please tell me where you are," I pleaded. "He lives on 3443 Maple Street," she whispered. Then the panic rose in her voice. "I have to go Two. He's coming!" Then the line went dead. My heart started beating out of my chest. I slipped my jacket back on, running out of the study.

Kathy's voice stopped me in my place. "Where are you going Two? Dinner will be done in five minutes!" she screeched. I had forgotten she was even here.

"My buddy from work needs my help at the office. Some malfunction. I'll be back!" I said, running out the door.

I started up my car and drove at lightning speed towards Maple Street. I pulled up quickly at the address she mentioned and ran up the driveway. I kicked the door open. I wasn't expecting what I saw next. A tall guy with brownish black hair was standing over AJ's quivering figure with a gun in one hand and a knife in the other. "Maybe this will make you talk. Who were you talking to?" he was saying as I kicked the door open.

The guy gave me an annoyed look. "Who the hell are you?" he asked, kicking AJ aside. She cried out in pain, rolling over with the force of the kick. "I'm the one she called. You better step back right now," I said, taking a step forward. He laughed right in my face as if I had just told a funny joke. I punched him square in the nose, knocking him out cold. I heard a crunching sound, knowing that I had just broke his fat nose.

I walked over to where AJ laid, moving my hand toward her. She flinched back, tears pouring out of her eyes. "AJ, its me. It's Two," I whispered. She slowly opened her eyes that she had clenched shut. She was fighting unconciousness. "Two," she whispered. I scooped her up in my arms fast, making her flinch again. "I'm sorry," I whispered, carrying her out to my car.

I placed her carefully, whispering how sorry I was. I knew that none of this actually pertained to me subconciously, but mentally, I couldn't see how I wasn't at fault. I should have been the man that AJ deserved in the first place, then she never would have met that douchebag. I should have tried to get her back sooner, and I wouldn't have let her be in that situation for so long.

I started driving towards the Curtises, knowing I couldn't take her back to my place. Not til I got Kathy out of there. "Two," she whispered. "Yeah babe?" I asked. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "What do you have to be sorry about?" I asked, not understanding. "I'm sorry I got you involved Two," she said. "You should have called me sooner," I said a little too harsh. "I'm sorry," she squeaked. I felt my quick anger subside quickly into pain.

"No, its not your fault," I said, wanting her old self to come back. "No, its my fault. I shouldn't have left you. I ruined everything. I'm so sorry Two," she cried. I pulled her close with one arm. "You had a right to leave me A. I was a deadbeat who was going no where in life. I want you to know that I've changed. I've gotten a job and my own apartment just like you wanted me too," I told her.

"That's great. I'm sure you and your girl are going to have a great life together," she said attempting a smile. "I don't think your getting it AJ. I love you! Kathy means nothing to me. I'll call her as soon as we get to the Curtises and break up with her!" I said.

"Two, you don't have too.." she started, but I interrupted. "AJ, your the love of my life and I'm never letting you go again."
