"On Holiday"
Chapter Two

I walked back into my new room with the last box of my belongings, no thanks to Luke who just watched from a distance or texted on his phone the whole time.

I entered the room placing the box of my books on the floor then crashed on my bed with a thump. I stared at my now fully decorated room. It looked empty, being as which all my furniture was crammed into one small room at my old apartment now it's spaced out in the new big room.

I let out a sign as I got up and wobbled over to my laptop. I clicked through my apps until pressing on pandora. I clicked on my regular station then smiled a content smile as Holiday by Green Day came over the speakers. I wasn't the biggest fan of Green Day, but this song I liked.

"On holidayy." I sang out as I walked back to my bed hopping onto it and stared at the ceiling occasionally singing out lyrics.

"Can you shut up?" A deep voice interrupted. I sat up and looked at my door to see Luke glaring at me, I felt my cheeks become hot.

"Can you get out of my room?" I mocked his tone then flicked my hand at him attempting to wave him off but It failed.

"I wouldn't be in here if you didn't sound like a dying cat." He mumbled. I wasn't that bad was I?

"Get out." I repeated grabbing a pillow and chucking it at him only earning a chuckle from him as he caught it and threw it to the ground.

"Feisty. Anyways tell my dad I won't be here for dinner." He said looking at me a smirk on his face. Bipolar much?

"Tell him yourself." I grumbled as I layed back down scrolling through my phone.

"I cant." He stated as he leaned against the doorframe. "Just tell him."

"Why can't you?" I asked my eyes still glued on my phone.

"I just cant." He told me a hint of sterness laced in his words. I let out a sigh and finally sat up eyeing the boy.

"Fine." I told him. A smile slowly kept onto his face. "But you owe me."

"Yeah whatever." He spat at me, the frustration returning to his voice as he left my room finally, with the slam of my door.

-

"Luke.. Amber dinner!" I heard my mother holler from downstairs. Luke isn't even here. I mumbled to myself mocking the same perkiness my mom had used. I slowly got out of bed and made my way downstairs.

I stepped off the last stair as a beautiful smell wafered into my nose. My mom doesn't Cook often but when she does its heavenly. I walked into the kitchen, following the smell, and saw Andrew and my mom sitting at the dining table. I slowly made my way over to them and sat next to my mother.

"Where's Luke?" My mom asked me as she plopped a spoonful of spaghetti onto my plate along with asparagus and a roll.

"He went out." I said a smile creeping onto my face, I knew he'd get in trouble my mom hated when people missed dinner, especially homade dinners

"Oh okay." She said perkily as she took a bite of her roll flashing Andrew a smile. What? Why isn't she angry. She actually took the time to make dinner and Luke isn't even here. She would've killed me if I pulled something like that. I brushed it off with a scowl and took a bite of my spaghetti.

"So i was thinking a winter theme for the wedding. Or wait, fall seems nice too." my mother discussed with Andrew as i sat in silence chewing my roll.

"Maybe we could put them together." my mom mumbled. That would probably look horrible i thought to myself, but hey what do i know?

I finished the rest of my dinner in peace then got out of my seat and headed to the kitchen to put my dishes in the dishwasher. After doing so i went to the fridge and grabbed a coke, gulping it down.

"Ambrosia are you excited to start school in the fall?" i heard Andrew call from the dining room. I followed his voice and leaned against the doorframe that split the dining room and kitchen.

"Its Amber. And no, not really. What child is excited to start school?" i said fumbling with my fingers nervously. "And plus i dont know anyone."

"You'll know luke." my mother said flashing me a warm smile as i just rolled my eyes.

"I heard my name." a voice said from behind me causing me to jump and hit my arm off the door. I looked to my right to see none other than Luke.

"We were just talking about when school starts how youll help Ambrosia make friends." Andrew said as he took a bite of his spaghetti.

"Amber." i mumbled staring down at my feet.

"Yeah sure whatever." Luke stated seeming clueless to what his father had just told him. "Whats that great smell?"

"Sharon made spaghetti." Andrew stated as my mom smiled at the mention of her name coming off his lips. Ew. I heard a clink behind me and i turned to see Luke grabbing a plate and heading over to the table where he grabbed a serving of food and sat down where i was previously sat.

"Oh my god. This is so good Sharon." Luke moaned with a mouthful of spaghetti, i rolled my eyes once again.

"Night, Love you." i told my mom but she didnt even hear me, too focused on Luke. I frowned then turned around and headed upstairs to my bedroom.

I wasnt exactly tired i just didnt want to sit there and listen to them be a family without me. I walked over to my laptop and shut it causing the music to stop. I sighed as i changed out of my jeans and sweatshirt into red flannel pajama pants and a harvard university shirt. I crawled into my bed with the tv remote in my hand and i flipped through channels before clicking on supernatural. They were just reruns but they were good enough.

I yawned lazily as i snuggled further into my pillows. they smelt like my apartment still, causing me to feel a little homesick. Stop it amber, you are home. I told myself but didnt quite believe myself. I pulled my blanket up to my nose and closed my eyes. My breathing soon slowed and before i knew it i was drifting to sleep while supernatural played quietly in the backround.
