The massive steam engine roared into the station. Poppy stood on her tip toes in anticipation. She would be going back to school today to see her friends, she couldn't wait.

"You have everything, right?" Lake asked the girl, trying to coax her out of her excited daze.

"Yep. I can't wait to get back." The girl said without prying her eyes away from the red train before her.

Witches and wizards made there way to and fro amongst the many cases and trolleys of the Hogwarts students. Spring break was now over and studies would commence without any further delay.

"Poppy!" A boys voice called over the sound of the station.

The boy made his way over to her swiftly enough and stood before her. Percy Kingston, a close friend of Poppy's.

"Want to sit together on the train?" He asked, his owl screeching at the sight of Artemis, Poppy's phoenix.

"Sure. How's Gabe, your brother?" The girl asked curiously.

Percy screwed up his face in response, and shrugged. "He's starting school at Hogwarts with us. Mum got him a wand."

"That can't be true. I thought he was a squib?" Poppy stated.

"Well supposedly he's a wizard too, only missed one term. Mum talked to the head master, says he's fine in going." Percy said.

More students made there wat onto the train as the doors swung open. Poppy watched as Percy made his way back over to his mother and his younger brother.

It made a bit of sense why things turned out the way they did. Their father was a wizard but eventually walked out on them. It made sense for Gabe to resent him and magic after being too young to know the man.

"Poppy. Give me your sister's wand. I'll get it to her." Lake said almost in a rushed manner.

"Fine, I guess. Here." She said as she dug the slightly broken wand from her pocket.

Lake took it quickly and put it into his inside pocket of his blazer.

"I'll get it to her. No worries." Lake said as he looked about anxiously.

"You'd better, Lake. Well, I'm off. Bye" The girl said, before she made her way to the train, leaving the man to his own devices.

Poppy placed her trunk in the proper area to be put on the train and took her phoenix to go find a suitable seating arrangement.

Students came and went in the different compartments, all either with friends or on the hunt for them.

Poppy was never really one to be able to speak to strangers. Especially other students. The Gryffindors seemed too loud, and the Slytherins too scheming, the Hufflepuffs seemed nice but some were shyer than even her.

Poppy found herself an empty compartment and sat down. Her phoenix moved about slightly on it's perch.

"May I sit here?" A small voice asked from beyond the now open door.

"You may." Poppy said with a nod.

A frail looking girl with shinning green eyes sat down. Her dress looked expensive but the girl's shoes were caked with mud. Her long hair fell down her shoulders in loose curls that ended near her waist.

"I'm Ocean Tyrrell. I'm a Slytherin, you?" The girl asked far clearer that Poppy would have thought. The girl picked at her nails as she spoke, never making eye contact.

"I'm not sure why my house should matter right now but I'm a Ravenclaw. My name's Poppy."

"You would know my brother then, Lake? He was friends with your sister. He's caught up with some bad stuff now, I'd be careful." Ocean said in a dazed manner.

The door slid open and two boys stood there in matching jumpers. One much taller than the other and carrying an old owl in an almost rusting cage.

"I found Gabe. He's in here with us, sorry." Percy said with a slight edge to his voice at the sight of Ocean.

"That's fine. We'll make room." Poppy insisted as she slid farther towards the window.

Percy sat down beside her and the smaller boy, Gabe sat precariously beside Ocean.

The train rolled away from the station not long after, as it did Poppy's phoenix flew off out the open window, startled by the noise it made.
