CH 13 |
I walk down the school's main hallway with a smile on my face. Finally, after today's toilet session, I think the diarrhoea is completely out of my system!
My happy mood turns into curiosity when I come across a group of students giving out flyers.
One of the students within the group greets me with a large grin. He appears to look a few grades below me, his blonde locks flowing stylishly to the left and his perfectly manicured hands handing me a flyer. "Hey girl, it's Meera's sweet 16th birthday party this Saturday! It's going to be the biggest social event of the year, so make sure you come!"
"Thanks." I smile, skimming through the party details as I approach my group. "Hey guys, have you heard about the party?"
Mia rolls her eyes dramatically, grinning. "Only for the past few months!"
"She's known to throw massive parties, but apparently this time it's going to be country-wide." Aaliyah comments excitedly whilst scrolling through her phone.
My jaw drops. "She can do that?!"
Will chuckles. "Not literally, cutie. Figuratively."
I smile nervously. "Oh, right."
"You going?" Dre asks casually.
"Maybe." I look down at the flyer in contemplation, then look back at Dre. "Are you going?"
He smiles coolly, swinging his arms over Mia. "Only if babe is going."
"Aww babe!" Mia coos, a blush creeping onto her cheeks. They share a moment before Mia turns to me. "I'm in."
I nod calmly, trying not to squeal over their adorableness. Turning to Hiba who has been over-looking at Aaliyah's phone and talking with her, I query, "How 'bout you, Hiba?"
Her pretty eyes look up at me in surprise and she shrugs. "Why not?"
I don't even stop to ask Aaliyah because we all know she's definitely coming, and turn to Will. His reply is smooth and flirtatious. "Well since Hiba's going, I—"
"Oh put a sock in it." Hiba grumbles, shaking her head in disappointment. "No matter how many times I tell this idiot that I'm taken..."
We all chuckle at Will's face of rejection, when Phoebe comes bolting towards us... or more specifically, me.
"Out of the way, rat-face!" She growls at Will, shoving him to the side. "Gotta talk to my girl about important business." Grinning excitedly, she grabs my arm and takes me a good distance away from the group, and also out of anyone's hearing range.
I smile eagerly, raising a brow. "So, what's your plan?"
It amazes me how Phoebe can think of a plan B after I brutally humiliated myself in front of plan A.
"So as you know," She begins, tapping the flyer still gripped on my hand. "Meera, the daughter of a billionaire enterprise is having her Sweet 16th. It's going to be humongous, right? So every single student in the entire school will be attending — seriously, nobody can afford to miss out on the biggest social event in the entire school history! Which means—"
"—Hamish and his gang will be attending." I gulp, my stomach churning at the shuddering incident that happened only two days ago.
"Exactly." Phoebe nods, still grinning. "So this is going to be your second chance, the chance for you to retrieve yourself."
I scoff. "As if Hamish is even going to look at me. I'm pretty sure I've scarred him and his gang for life."
"Ah but, what if he's forced to look at you?"
