"Idiot girl."
Idiot...?
What did he just call me?!
"Excuse me--"
"You heard me clearly, I'm sure. Have you come this time to destroy my entire shop, you reckless girl?!"
"Wha...I came to say sorry for your pot!" I ball up my fists and look him dead in the eye, hoping to convey my honest feelings of guilt for what I had done the other day.
To my dismay, the young flower shop owner merely rolled his eyes and sighed in annoyance.
"Oh, right. An apology is definitely going to repair those broken pots!" He scoffs, brushing off my apology completely. Anger bubbles up inside of me and I have to bite my tongue to keep it from coming out in a way I would regret later on.
Alright, Momoko. Let's be mature about this.
😤"Of course it isn't...not only did I come to apologize, but..." I unraveled my fists and took a deep breath, "...But I also came to pay for the damage." I look up into his silver eyes, expectant of some kind of approval of acceptance of the remorse I was trying to convey.
But the man smirks.
He smirks!
"With what money? Your wallet was completely empty when I found it." He says, and the realization hits me when I realize he had found my stuff when I'd dropped it!
"Wha--so you do have it! Please give it back!"
"I'll give it back when you repay me for the damages!"
"I offered to, you jerk!" I was about to lose it, "You didn't even seem the least bit satisfied with the offer, either! What do you want me to do?!"
💢"You're pretty snappy for someone who came to make amends!"
"Mou~! I wonder why! This isn't fair, you can't just hold my stuff because I destroyed---it wasn't even my fault!"
"The people who saw what you did say otherwise! And I can do whatever I like!"
Sounds familiar...
"Whatever you like? Now I know why I never see anyone in this shop! You're like a cranky old man! You probably scare everyone off, right?!"
💢"How dare you! You want that stupid wallet back?! There's nothing in there anyway--"
"You're wrong! My precious family photos are in there!"
"Whatever. I doubt you can pay for the damage with what you have in your pocket."
"Oh, please. They're just a bunch of flower pot--"
"They were all ceramic pots."
"So what?"
"Do you have any idea what those cost? Of course not. I forgot who I was speaking to for a second. You knocked over 4 ceramic pots and broke every last one. Each pot cost around $220."
"...Eh..."
Numbers began to pop up in my head and I lifted my fingers to start doing the math. The sum that I came up with was not cute.
"B-But! That's too much --"
"So what!" He snaps, and I winced in response, "Take responsibility."
"You are so infuriating...! Fine! Fine! I'll pay you what I have right now and help you out around the flower shop to pay it all back."
"Good." The man's smirk only widened and I felt like a poor little lamb in the presence of an wicked wolf. Something told me I wouldn't really enjoy working under this man.
