''Shouldn't it matter what he wants?''
The tension and rage was a thick layer that lingered in the air when Devin Green, Matthew Greene, Alyssa Greene, Jacob Greene and Violet Libon sat in Alyssa's living room that Thursday evening.
''We both agreed that I get full custody over Matthew while you get full custody over Devin,'' Their father prompts.
''Over?'' She furrows her brows at him. ''We're not props, dad, we're your kids with our own set of opinions.''
They watched her father pinch the bridge of his nose before he wiped his face down with that same hand. ''Not now, Devin.''
Attentions were alarmed when Violet reached over to place a gentle touch on Jacob's shoulder. ''She has a point, Jay.''
''Fuck off, Violet,'' Devin and Matthew exclaim in unison.
''Hey!'' Their parents called out.
''Apologize, now,'' Their mother order, a sterness strictly prohibited into her tone.
Matthew extends an arm out to point at Violet. ''Why the hell is she even here?''
''Apologize,'' Their father repeats, his anger seething towards his kids but they weren't backing down any time soon.
''I'm not saying sorry,'' Devin tells them before turning Matthew.
She watches her brother shrug his shoulders. ''I rather die than say sorry.''
''Fine,'' Their father snapped while throwing his arms in the air. ''You want to stay here? Then stay! I'm done trying.''
He turns to Violet and mumbles a small, ''Come on,'' while reaching out to grab her hand.
Without another word exchange, Jacob Greene and Violet Libon had left.
When the door had closed shut, that's when the yelling began.
''There was no reason for you two, to snap out like that!''
Matthew furrows his brows and leans forward in his seat. ''No reason? This man left us for-..''
Matthews words began to drown out when Devin felt her phone vibrate from her back pocket.
Lifting her body off of the arm feast of the solo chair Matthew sat in, she reaches for her phone and turned it on.
