Adopted. It was what most young kids would call him. He had never heard of the word before The End. All he knew was his parents were no longer with him. They were somehow in a better place, and he believed it. Anywhere would have been better than Subsolaneus. His life was not terrible, though it was neither exciting.
Something did happen, however, that threw him in a whirlwind. Zari. Her name would not leave his mind. It sounded cliché, but where had this girl been his whole life? He did not know Ivy nor had any connection to The Society, but he would follow Zari to the moon and back. Similarly, if she agreed to be a part of an elaborate scheme so would he. No questions asked—injured leg and all.
