CHAPTER ONE

╰☆╮

IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE THE LAST TIME SHE had a beer and as she sat on the small cramped desk she was craving a cold beer or even a fruity drink, it didn't matter but she really needed alcohol in her system. It was work day and night she even put in extra hours just to her work done, it wasn't like she had other plans anyways. It's been exactly a month since Raven moved across the country to get away from the town that plagued her with haunting memories.

She lived in a small town an hour away from Port Ángeles in Washington. It was home to a few hundred people but it was cozy and everyone knew everyone, the only thing was that Raven never felt at home in the town. Deep down, something in her knew that's not where she belonged. The feeling was sick and it would pop up in the most random times. She felt homesick but she didn't know where her home was.

Moving to Atlanta was a huge and impulsive step Raven had made but it felt somewhat right. Although she didn't feel as she was entirely home, she at least felt whole being away from her parents. It was a sense of relief. She was only twenty one and the girl didn't know what she wanted to be so moving made everything a bit more challenging.

But, finding a steady job was easy enough for her. Raven was working as an office worker with some company that she didn't bother memorizing. Everyone in the office already knew each other but none of them seemed to put an effort into befriending. It stung but it only gave Raven an excuse to work harder and stay longer. It's only been a few weeks but Raven felt like she wouldn't be making friends anytime soon.

Raven frowns her fingers pausing their movement, she glances at the screen in front of her. The email she was working on was almost finished but after that one there was a couple more left as well as some files and reports she had to do. Even if she's only been working for a few weeks there was no doubt in her mind that she hated her job.

Just as Raven was going to resume her work, the bump that came from the end of her desk as well as her papers falling prevents her from doing so. Raven groans internally getting up from her desk chair and rushing to pick up her papers, she failed to notice another hand helping her out.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I wasn't...I didn't...I'm so sorry!" The person practically shouted, their hands moving from the papers they were handing to Raven and rubbing her face. Raven smiled nervously, placing her hands on top of the spazzing person.

When they both look up Raven's nervous and awkward smile remains, to be met with a brunette who was freaking out. She drops her hands and picks the papers up herself, "It's fine, it's just a few papers."

The woman smiled at her happy that she wasn't freaked out by her sudden outburst. Raven gets up from the ground, placing her papers on the desk and giving the woman a hand, "I'm Raven."

"Haley Davidson." The woman introduces herself shaking Raven's hand. Haley stared at Raven for a while later until she gasped, letting go of her hand and placing her finger on her mouth before pointing at her with a huge smile. "You're the newbie!"

"I um, uh, I guess." Raven smiles shyly at her unsure of else to say. Haley was definitely full of energy and Raven wasn't so used to it, often times Raven herself had random moments when she would have energy outbursts but nothing compared to Haley. "I've been here for five weeks?"

"Right! No, I just got back from my vacation or else I would've showed you around when you first got here." Haley chuckled softly, mainly to herself since Raven didn't really find humor in the sentence. "How about we go out tonight? Get to know each other."

"That'll be nice but..." Raven trailed not completely sure if she wanted to hang out with anybody. Although she really didn't want to be the lonely worker that had no plans or friends despite living in the town for a while. Biting on her cheek, Raven smiles gratefully at Haley. "Actually, that'll be nice."

"Great! Nine a'clock at Mahogany's. Don't be late!" Haley exclaimed. Her eyes lit up in excitement before she practically skipped away to her own cubicle. Raven raises a brow in amusement, the girl was definitely something else.

The sound of someone clearing their throat captures Raven's attention. The man that worked beside her had a coffee mug in one hand with his lip quirked up in a smirk. Raven furrowed her brows but before she has the chance to question him, he speaks up. "I see you've met Haley."

"Yeah, she's kind of-"

"Hyper?" The man finishes her sentence getting a hesitant nod from Raven. The man laughs drinking from his mug and pointing off to the direction she walk off to. "No one here has enough patience to deal with her so the boss gave her a month to get away from here. It was peaceful without her."

"What's you problem? Haley doesn't deserve that type of disrespect! Especially from her coworkers!" Raven frowns crossing her arms. Whatever they were doing to Haley didn't seem appropriate especially in a professional environment.

The man puts his hands up in mock surrender rolling his eyes at Raven. He didn't expect such reaction from her, he thought she'll laugh along and agree with him but he was wrong. "Since you're so protective, why don't you and Haley become best friends?"

"Fine! Maybe we will! At least I'll have some dignity!" Raven glares harshly at the man her tone sounding strong and repulsive but she wasn't going to disrespect Haley the way they did. With one final glare Raven returns to her desk and harshly begins to type away on her computer.

As you can tell, Raven is a kindhearted
person & respects people. also, Haley is
my smol child and I just want to give
people a heads up that I'm not an expert
and I've been reading articles on how to
write a person with ADHD. So I'm sorry if
some things are inaccurate but Haley
