CHAPTER TWO

╰☆╮

IT WAS TOO LATE TO CANCEL ON HALEY. The clock read 8:40 pm and Raven was rummaging through her one bag on clothes that she packed. When she moved she didn't think anyone was going to invite her out so Raven didn't bother packing anything decent to wear out. All she had in her bag were skinny jeans and a bunch on T-shirt's, and two baggy shirts to wear to bed.

"Ugh!" Raven groaned loudly to herself and plopping herself down on the motel bed. That's right, motel. She didn't have enough money to rent or purchase a cheap apartment which was one of the main reasons she's been staying at work longer. The motel smelled of cigarettes, sex, and alcohol and that wasn't the worst part, the bed was uncomfortable, the pillows smelled like hairspray and leather. Overall, staying in the motel was the worst part.

Deciding to give up on her appearance, Raven slips on her jeans and a random shirt as well as her boots. Raven looked through the mirror of the bathroom, making a face before wrapping her hair in a ponytail. She smirked at herself liking the way her hair looked up but frowned once her eyes found the hideous scar on the side of her neck.

Pulling down her hair Raven knows Haley would want to ask questions regarding her scar and she wasn't in the mood to answer them. In fact, Raven always made sure to steer away from those questions, she avoided answering them to avoid the constant fear and nightmares that came with it.

Exhaling deeply she shakes away the awful memories and ruffles her hair giving it volume before walking out of the bathroom. She only hoped that everything would go smoothly and she'll have a friend by the end of the night.

"So, wait-" Haley interrupts Raven from continuing her story. There were some parts that Raven refused to share to which Haley respected but others were way to odd for her not to question. Raven pauses and drinks from her Cosmopolitan and waiting for Haley to ask her question or her input. "You hitchhiked from Washington to Georgia?"

Raven hummed in agreement noticing that Haley was busy playing with the tiny umbrella from her drink in her hands. She wanted to ask her if there was something wrong but Haley's sudden outburst causes Raven to jump and ignore asking her the question. "Oh my god, Raven! You could've been killed or worse!"

People around the bar were giving the girl strange looks but Haley didn't seem affected by them so instead Raven sent them all glares making them turn back around. She turns her attention back to Haley who was slipping on her drink, she smiles softly at her. "What's worse than-"

"Torture, trafficking, rape, I mean, I could go on." Haley adds in, once again interrupting Raven but she didn't seem to mind. Haley grabs a fire from the basket they were sharing and gives Raven a confused look, "So, where are you staying?"

"Oh, um, well you know..." Raven trails off completely caught off guard by the question. Haley raises a brow at her waiting for her to answer this time not bothering to interrupt. Raven almost groaned loudly, she was stump. Unsure if she should lie to her or the truth. "In a motel." Raven quickly adds in, hoping that she talked fast enough for Haley to ignore her answer.

"You're staying in a what!" Haley shouts out choking on her drink. The people around them begin to mummer under their breath and throw glares over at them but the two brunettes ignored them. Raven winced at the volume of her tone, her mouth was gaped open and her hands flat on the table. "Oh no! This isn't happening!"

"Haley-"

"No, I'm sorry Rave, I'm not letting you live like that! I have a two bedroom apartment, why don't you move in with me?" Haley offers. She wasn't to let Raven live in a run down motel where hookers hook up in, it was a disgusting environment and it was a big no-no for Haley.

Raven's eyes widen at her offer, it was tempting but she shook her heads waving her hands around, "No, it's fine, Haley. Really!"

"Raven, I don't care what you say. You're either moving in with me or I'm helping you look for an apartment. End of discussion." Haley laid out crossing her arms and staring at Raven.

Raven bites down on her lip, twisting around the small black straw. She honestly did not want to intrude but after the long night, it would feel nice to sleep on an actual couch and shower somewhere with good pressure. Raven looks at Haley who had her eyes trained on her awaiting on her answer. She sighed loudly and laughed softly, smiling at Haley, "Okay fine. We'll be roommates."

Haley squealed loudly clapping her hands and grabbing her purse, she took out her money but before Raven can protest she grabs her hand and leds her out of the bar. Haley might've had a lot of energy but the girl was a better friend than she had for the last twenty years.

After retrieving her bag from the motel and stopping by for some late night grub, the two finally arrived at Haley's apartment. Upon revival, Raven's jaw dropped her eyes scanning the beautiful and expensive apartment she was staying in. Even her car was something Raven couldn't afford. Frozen in shock, Raven couldn't move from her spot in the car but Haley's laugh causes Raven to break away from her trance. "You live here?"

"Yeah, it's the first real thing I purchased." Haley nods, her fingers drumming the steering wheel softly. Haley's eyes locked on the apartment building in front, memories from her mother popping up that her smile sadly.

Raven wasn't sure what to say but the small frown that was plastered on her face was a sign that Haley was thinking of the memories that deal with her parents so instead of saying anything, Raven puts her hand on top of Haley's. Raven's soft hand makes Haley look at her briefly before smiling at her. It was odd but nonetheless comforting.

"We should go in, it's starting to get cold." Haley comments letting go of Raven's hand and exiting the car. Raven clears her throat and follows Haley behind, afraid to touch anything in the building so she clutches her bag tightly.
