Chp 36. Bad Idea

Annabeth's P.O.V.

"Yeah, I guess that's a little off." Leo replied as he worked

"It just makes me so mad. Why should I be so mad about this anyways?-"

"Annabeth."

"I know there's a chance I'm underestimating the charmspeak,-"

"Annabeth."

"but what if I'm not."

"Annabeth!"

"What if-"

"AN-NA-BETH!" Leo grabbed my shoulders and gently shook me

I sealed my lips.

Leo started to talk, "Annabeth, you were struck down. Your pride was torn down by a little Aphrodite princess and it kills you. That's what's wrong. Your pride is what's wrong. You are always all high and fly and a winner, but not this time. You were struck down at your weakness and you know what that is?"

"Percy..." I said

"Yes and no. It's not only Percy. You are too stubborn to except the truth, but when you see it with your own eyes, you exaggerate it. Percy is what your mad at the least. You're mad because you're a daughter of Athena who's supposedly supposed to know everything that's coming at her in a logical way, but you didn't see this. And when you did see this, it took you out. Not only that, but it was a child of Aphrodite and a child of Poseidon. You're hurt and mad at yourself and Drew, but you want revenge. I can see it I'm your eyes, and revenge is a sweet thing for awhile. You want to show Drew that you can move on and she didn't damage anything of yours, a.k.a. Percy. That Percy isn't the top of your list, and she hit the wrong target. That's what's wrong with you."

"So what exactly are you saying?" I questioned

"Well just think." He whispered moving to the side so Jake and Nyssa couldn't hear

"I need Alexis and you need Percy!" He exclaimed as quietly as he could

I stared at him and shock and he held his hands out waiting for an explanation.

"Oh." I started "No. Oh no! HELL no! You've had your head stuck in the fire too long! I think the fumes are getting to you! Are you crazy?! That is not going to happen!"

"Oh Annabeth! Come on! It's not like we remotely like each other at all now! It's fake, it's an act!" He said "I can't get Alexis on my own and maybe if she sees I can get someone like you, not that I would want you, but she will think I'm worthy enough to take on that trip of her big-"

"Wow! Okay! First, stop! I didn't need to hear that last part! Second! What makes you think this will work?" I interrupted now disgusted

"I just told you and you interrupted!"

"No, you told me for you. What about me? Not to be selfish here but how is this going to help me. I mean my relationship problem." I asked

"I'm sorry!" He said sarcastically, "Have you met your boyfriend?!" I clenched my fists and my heart pounded, "Oh, sorry, I mean ex."

"Yes, I have!" I said a little irritated now

"Well you would know that he has some serious anger management and overprotectivement problems when it comes to the people he loves!" He exclaimed looking satisfied with his horrible grammar

"That's not a word, and as much as I believe he does love me, I'm confused after what happened. And that's part of his fatal flaw! He can't help that!" I said stubbornly

"Well yeah, that's what will throw him over the edge, and that is a word now because it came from the great god, Leo Valdez, of anything and everything attractive, brilliant, and sexy to your part human mind! So you know.... basically you came from me." He winked

"Okay! Let me get this as straight as a pole-"

"Your pole.." He grimaced

"See! We can't do this! I'll try to kill you the whole time and it's just a flat-out horrible idea! Have you not seen any romance movies! Using someone else never works out! It just not going to be a wise choice!" I said

He slumped his shoulders. "Yeah, sure since no one ever takes my advice or ideas. All I am is the little repair man and seventh wheel as always. It's fine. I'll just be Leo."

I started to feel a little bad. I know the idea is horrible, but frankly, I really don't know what else to do. I've never been good with relationships. Leo's just trying to help. He's right though, and it's sad. No one ever takes his ideas unless it's involves working on a machine to get the job done. He's always been there for us and yet I can't help him out to get a girl after years of friendship.

"Oh okay, but you have to shut up about this! There will be no extreme physical contact and don't expect a lot of small physical contact either! Got it!" I gave in

"Yes!" He pumped his fist "I finally am going to get Alexis!"

"And I'm going to beat the shit out of Drew." I said

He laughed and attempted to high-five me.

"Get back to work! We still have phones to make before summer's over!" I said

"Anything for you babe." He smirked grabbing the blueprints from my hand

"No," I said "Not yet."

"What? We gotta get into the character!" He exclaimed waving his hands at me

"Well I'm going to go get into character at archery practice. Meet me later and we can get this sorted out." I said gesturing to the door

I made almost all of my way out.

Leo shouted while laughing, "Bye sweetie!"

I face palmed.

"No Leo!" I said smiling "The fake part of this is going to be way too obvious when you start saying nice words."

"Whatever!" He yelled as I slammed the door, "I was trying!"

"What have I done?" I thought to myself

I caved in to not just anyone but the great and crazy, Leo Valdez.

Fantastic.

This won't be obvious and end horribly at all.
