DELILAH

"Everything looks wonderful," Doctor Murphy smiled, looking up at the image of our nearly fourteen week baby on the screen. "Look at those little limbs forming," she laughed.

"It is a boy or a girl?" Adrian asked, jumping up and down. "Can I know? Pleeeeeaaaseeeee? My birthday was last week, so pleeeeasseeee."

Liam chuckled, squeezing my hand in his before and placing the other on Adrian's shoulder. "We have to wait a few more weeks for that."

"We can if you'd like," the doctor said, looking back at us. I glanced back at Liam who simply nodded towards me, letting me know I had the final word.

"Please," I said.

"Okay, let's see if the little one will cooperate." She shifted the probe a few times and then directed her attention to Adrian.

"Well, big guy, how do you feel about a little brother?"

Adrian's eyes widened with pure joy and excitement as did Liam's, who leaned down and kissed me. I smiled against his lips, feeling more than blessed, forgetting the hell that the past weeks and months had been.

"I was secretly hoping it would be a boy. Girls are too weird," Adrian said.

"Typical boy," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Now, the baby is measuring a bit smaller than usual, you just have to eat a bit more, stay well nourished okay? Whatever you eat, the baby gets."

I nodded, flashing the doctor a huge smile. "Thank you for everything, I mean it."

"Of course. Now, lets get you cleaned up so you all can go celebrate."

"Uh, can I ask a couple of questions before we leave?"

Both Doctor Murphy and Liam raised their eyebrows in surprise, but Liam stepped out, leaving me alone with her.

We ate back at the pier, planning out the trip that I insisted we take. On the morning of his birthday, Liam and I had surprised our now eight year old with a birthday cake and an array of LEGO toys to build. I'd also become aware that even though Adrian had originally wanted to leave the city for a weekend, they'd decided to otherwise for my sake. I didn't want that. We'd been through so much and we deserved a weekend out.

It wasn't possible to leave that very weekend, so we opted for waiting until after my doctors appointment so that we'd know everything was okay and so that my parents could join us as well.

Liam was excited he was getting another boy in the family, and I was just glad that our baby was healthy. I nuzzled into Liam's neck, an arm wrapping around my shoulders. Adrian was too entertained coloring on the kid's menu given to him to notice the PDA.

"Any names for our little boy?" He asked, kissing my head.

"No, not yet," I smiled, placing a kiss on his throat.

I felt him tense, and I kissed him again, nipping lightly at his skin.

"What are you doing?" He whispered.

"Kissing you," I murmured.

He looked down, his lips forming a crooked smile when he saw my teasing expression. "What are you thinking, Delilah?"

"Can't say here."

Liam chuckled, bringing his lips to mine, humming quietly. "Well, we'll see tonight?"
