KELLY's POV

I closed the car door with a bang upon getting out of the car. I was so furious that I didn't even look at Stephen even after he called me. I didn't know what to think about what's happening. Everything happened so fast that I didn't have the chance to control everything in my favor.

When I went to my grandparent's house, I didn't even have an idea that my life would turn upside down because of the fact that my ex-boyfriend became my bodyguard. I mean, who would have thought that the last man I dreaded to meet again would become my bodyguard, right?

I thought we would never meet again but it looked like the world really is small after all.

I was surprised that I couldn't escape what my grandmother wanted. If I had known about it from the beginning, I would've done something in order to prevent it from happening.

As far as I know, I already forgot about him. I already learned not to think about him even for a single day because for me, everything was already finished between us for good. I have moved on but it doesn't mean that it's okay for me to be with him in any way again even if he would just be my bodyguard.

If it wasn't for my grandparents, I would never accept him as my bodyguard because to be with him was the last thing I wanted to do especially now that he's acting like a jerk as if he didn't cheat on me before.

I strode towards the elevator with long strides, wanting to get away from him as soon as possible. I pushed the button going to my penthouse and when the elevator doors opened, I was about to step inside it when I felt someone's hand gripped my wrist.

"I said wait" I heard Stephen said with a stern tone. I almost gasped because of the contact. I didn't know why but my body reacted to his touch weirdly even though his callused palm felt so strong and rough on my skin.

I turned around and then glared at him. I pulled back my wrist from his grip.

"And why would I wait for you?" Our gazes met. His eyes were void of any emotion like always while mine held annoyance and animosity.

"Because I am your bodyguard and I am obligated to be by your side wherever you go, whatever you do. Understand?" my eyes squinted in anger because of the way he talked. I didn't like his tone at all.

"You don't have the right to talk to me that way. Yes, you're my bodyguard but it doesn't mean that you have the right to behave like I'm inferior to you nor touch me in anyway, let alone carry me like you did a while ago!" I raised my chin defiantly. To my surprise, the corner of his lips twitched with a mocking smile. My eyes automatically squinted in annoyance because of his reaction.

He was smiling even though it wasn't in a nice way but his eyes remained emotionless. How does he do that? I don't remember him being like this before. The Stephen I used to know wasn't like this. He was always full of life. He was the kind of person that was easy to read. He was friendly and gentle. But now, no matter how I tried, I couldn't read him anymore.

I felt like I was talking to a stranger and totally different person. His gentle side that I used to like was gone. He's behaving brusquely and it's nothing like him. I mentally shook my head. No! That's ridiculous! Maybe this is his true personality not my ex-boyfriend from years ago.

He was deceiving me that time that's why he must acting differently in front of me, pretending to be nice and all. People said that people who cheats tend to be sweeter to their lovers because they're doing something unforgivable behind their backs.
