I had to stop that duel...

Your POV

Seeing as I had no one in the tent to care for at the moment, I had some time to think. I knew that if I wanted to stop this duel I had to know where and when. My guess is it would be in New Jersey, because apparently everything is legal there. And it most likely occur tomorrow morning before the sun rise, so the sun can't mess up the duel. I knew it was a little after noon now, so I had a while to think, but one question kept nagging at me...

How would I stop it?

I knew there was quite a bit of options, and maybe that was what stressed me out so much. Taking the time to consider just one option would take me all day! Even if I could think of one to make as my choice.

What if I couldn't pick an option in time..?

My head was suddenly filled with blurry scenes. A broken, sobbing Alex, a triumphant Charles Lee. Lafayette and Hercules holding on to each other desperately. And then John. John with a bullet in his chest, pale and lifeless, yet almost somewhat peaceful. That was the worst one.

I tried to shake the scenes from my head. They all left, except for John's. It wouldn't go away. I sat on a cot and put my head in my hands, trying to ignore the tears that threatened to spill. Suddenly, an option popped into my head. I tried to shake it away like the scenes, but like John's tear-jerking scene, it wouldn't go away. I sighed, wiping my tears and realizing it was my best option...

~ time skip to tomorrow morning ~

I woke up around what had to be about 3:30 in the morning. I looked around and saw the rest of the nurses sleeping. As I got ready silently, I remember the events of yesterday. I remember later that day Lafayette approaching me fast about John challenging Lee to a duel in New Jersey (it didn't say where they dueled so bear with me pls), just as I had thought. After I got all ready, I ran out quietly to make my way to New Jersey. It was time to crash a duel in the worst way possible..

~ sorry for the time skipsssss ~

I stepped out of the boat I had taken across the Hudson, thanking the man who was kind enough to take me there. I rushed out and started running until I spotted four shadows. Two I could make out holding pistols. As I ran, I saw two men walking back to the men holding pistols, and I realized it was John and Lee. Their seconds had been Alex and Aaron Burr. Then, I heard Alex's voice...

"Look 'em in the eye, aim no higher. Summon all the courage you require, then count..."
