No one's POV

Age: 5

Sat in a small field were two young kids. One was a small girl with bouncy (H/C) hair and sparkling (E/C) eyes, and the other was a slightly taller (but not by much) boy with curly locks of dark brown hair and playful hazel eyes.

The spring air in Central Park was pleasant as Martha Laurens and (M/N) (L/N) watched their two kids from afar, smiles on their faces as both pairs talked.

The young boy was rambling about his favorite animal, turtles, as his best friend listened with interest. The two's hands were interlocked; it was something that happened naturally between the two.

The boy suddenly stopped talking about turtles and looked at the tiny girl beside him.

"(N/N)?"

(Y/N) looked at the boy beside her.

"Yeah Johnny?"

John looked down at their interlocked hands and then back at her.

"What do you... what do you think about... it's the thing where two people who love each other a lot have this big party thing!"

(Y/N) giggled. "I think it's... marriage? Yeah! That!"

John nodded excitedly. "Yeah that! What if we did that when we were older?"

She thought a moment. "That would be super duper awesome!"

John's hazel eyes lit up in excitement. "Promise?"

(Y/N) nodded. "Promise!"

He cheered happily as their moms walked over.

"Okay, kiddos, time to say goodbyes!"

Both kids pouted but stood up, and the boy pulled the girl into a hug, mumbling a sad 'goodbye'. She returned the sad word and held onto her mom's hand as they walked away.

(Y/N) looked up at her mom. "Mommy, guess what? I'm gonna... gonna marry John when I'm older!"

(M/N) laughed. "I'm sure you will, sweetie."

Little did the pair know, John was ranting the same thing to his mother, who giggled at his enthusiasm and responded positively.

Age: 14

"Alex! You better not!"

John looked annoyingly at one of his friends who had just admitted to liking (Y/N). John wasn't very happy with it at all. One, she was his best friend, and two, John liked her as well! He always found himself thinking of the little kindergarten promise they made and wondered if maybe they would get married. Of course, it was far away, but John didn't like having his friend making helpless eyes at his crush.
