John's POV

Things couldn't have been any better. Well... (Y/N) could be here right now.

(Y/N) finally achieved her dream of being a famous scientist. Reluctantly, she left me and New York to travel the U.S about 6 months back. She had yet to return home. I missed her like hell, but I knew she was enjoying herself out there. We FaceTimed pretty much every night and constantly texted.

Now, I was out in Central Park with our four-year-old daughter, Frances. Frances was our everything. She looked more like me than (Y/N) but she acted very much like her mother.

Frances was perched on my shoulders as we walked down a path, giggling at all the autumn leaves falling around us. It was late September, and (Y/N) said she'd be home by October. Frances was ecstatic for her mother's return.

Frances burst into a fit of giggles. "Daddy daddy look! I caught a leaf!" I turned my head to see a fiery red leaf in her tiny fist.

I laughed. "Good job!" She cheered as I kept walking, a grin on my face.

We eventually reached an open field, where I sat her down and she started running around the grass, her pinkish-red dress flowing behind her. I laughed and she turned toward me, flashing a toothy smile.

I started walking toward her. "Imma getcha, Frances!"

Frances squealed and started running across the field. I chased after her, catching her rather quickly and scooping her up. She squeaked as her small hands grabbed my arms. "You weren't supposed to catch me!" I only laughed, spinning her around.

I didn't happen to see the special someone watching us from afar.

Your POV

"Imma getcha, Frances!"

I watched my husband with an amused as he chased our four-year-old daughter. He had sent me a text earlier that day saying he was going with Frances to Central Park.

Perfect surprise!

Frances squealed and grabbed John's arms as he picked her up, both of them laughing. "You weren't supposed to catch me!" I heard Frances exclaim.

John just laughed as he spun her around. Soon enough he put her down and he grabbed her tiny hand as they walked back to a nearby bench. I quickly hid behind the tree I was near. I peeked around the tree.

Frances, being the toddler she is, knelt down onto the grass instead of the bench. John chuckled and sat criss-cross next to her.
