Jack's POV:

As I was walking to school the next day, I saw, Charlotte ahead of me. "Charlotte!" I called, running towards her.

"Hey Jack." She smiled at me. She really does have a beautiful smile.

"Mind if I walk with you?"

"Of course not. It's really lonely walking by myself."

"So, how do you like your new house?" I ask in attempt to start a new conversation.

"It's really nice. I mean my room is huge. The neighbors here aren't half bad either." She said winking at me and laughing a little. I gave her a big smile.

"Well, I'm glad you like it here. It gets a little boring sometimes, so getting new people is always good." We got to school a few minutes later. Charlotte and I went our own ways and I headed to my locker. As I closed it, Carter came up beside me and leaned on the locker next to me.

"So, how are things with Charlotte?" He asked with a smirk on his face.

"Dude, are we really gonna do this again?" I said a little annoyed.

"I didn't mean it that way. I just wanted to know how she likes it here and what she's really like. You know her way better than the rest of us." It's true. Charlotte may be friends with the guys, but they aren't nearly as close to her as I am.

"It's good. She said she likes it here and it doesn't seem like she's missing her old school too much." Just then, the bell rang and we all went to our classes.

Charlotte's POV:

After the first bell rang, I went to chemistry. I didn't realize it yesterday, but apparently Matt and Taylor are in my class. "Oh great," I think to myself, "this should be fun". Knowing them, they're probably going to try to embarrass me.

I went and sat down behind Taylor. He and Matt turned to look at me. "Hey Charlotte." Matt said smiling.

"Hey guys." I said.

"So, are you ready for the quiz on Friday?"

"No. I barely understand any of this. I just got here and they act like I should already know what your talking about." I said a bit annoyed. I usually get good grades, but science has never been my strong suit.

"Well that just won't do." Taylor said. He turned to face the front and raised his hand. Uh oh. I don't know what he's about to do, but I know it's going to embarrass me.

"Mrs. Lee," Taylor called.

"Can I help you Taylor?" Or teacher said, obviously annoyed. It was easy to tell that he irritated most of his teachers.

"As you know, we have a quiz on Friday," Taylor started, acting very formal, obviously just to add to the effect. "I don't think that it's fair to give a quiz when we have a new student who is having difficulties understanding the material." The entire class was looking at us by now. I felt my face get red.

"Mr. Caniff, it is none if your concern as to whether Ms. Williamson does or does not understand the material."

"Oh but Mrs. Lee," Matt joined in using the same tone that Taylor did. "Charlotte is our friend, and we do not think that it is fair to have to take a quiz on something that our friend is struggling with. I believe that you should just get rid of the quiz completely."

"Mr. Espinosa, Ms. Williamson is a very bright student. She has an above average grade point average and I'm sure that she will be able to figure out the material herself. If she needs help, then she will come and see me. You do not need to get involved."

The whole class was laughing. Luckily, they were laughing at Matt and Taylor, not me. I couldn't help but laugh along. Sure, I was a little humiliated at first, but nobody's laughing or staring at me now, so I figured I should just get over it.

As the rest of the class went on, I started to understand everything a little bit more. But I knew that probably didn't matter that much to Taylor and Matt. They just wanted to get out of the quiz. It doesn't really matter to me if they are concerned about my grades or not. The only person worried about that should be me.

Anyways, Matt and Taylor walked to me with my next class. They kept making jokes about the stupidest things that I just couldn't help but laugh at.

Everybody in their group of friends are great. There were never people like them at my old school. Even after knowing them for one day, one thing is for sure. As long as I'm friends with them, my life will never be boring.
