(Marc)

You guys can imagine them however but these are the best depictions of how they're appearing to me.

Marc looked out the window and watched everything go by. He caught the first glimpse of his face in the reflection of the glass and examined his profile. It didn't matter to him how this body looked though, especially since neither of his mates were with him.

Outside was chaos. Smoke billowed from buildings as people tried to use fire on corpses that began to animate again. At least these zombies weren't completely overly powered, just pesky. He turned away and stared aimlessly out the front window.

His eyes may be open but he was looking at something internally. He began using the skill of hacking into the satellite of this World and began filtering through cameras and surveillance across the world. It was pretty contained thus far, only to this side, but for some reason it was slowly spreading. The virus was somehow hitting the closest coast of this continent. From looking at various news reports, a fish was somehow diseased and a person had eaten Sushi.

He didn't know if he could look at Sashimi the same again.

What he didn't understand though was how in the hell was it affecting the bodies beneath the ground. It wasn't airborne. . That left water. How could it get into the water? They would need to boil it and check for any signs of the virus once at the base.

The car jostled and Marc realized Jemma was driving on the sidewalk to get by a traffic jam that seemed stopped up due to a large truck that had smashed into a couple of cars.

He returned back to what he was looking for and winced slightly at another news report about mummies crawling out of tombs. Dear Yses, they were evolving. Mummies didn't even have organs! How was that possible?! The only viable reason for there to be mummies becoming animated would be .. a Necromancer.

Marc remembered the people who had began using some form of magic when they were in the parking lot and couldn't help but wonder if some people had gained the ability to raise the dead.

What the hell was going on with this world? He had originally thought it was a virus but if people were gaining powers.. it was the World. With sudden clarity he understood. To balance the fact that zombies were overtaking the planet slowly, the World began to adjust and gave some Humans abilities. For some reason, he thought that maybe Jemma gained the ability of a Berserker or a .. a serial killer or something? Who knows what was going on with Jemma but she was way too calm about this all.

He glanced over at the red head and noticed she was whistling a tune as she drove.

"What?"

Jemma didn't look at him but kept her eyes on the disastrous road ahead of them. They occasionally hit a zombie or two but she made sure they didn't break the windshield somehow.

"Do you feel any differently? When we were back at the store I noticed some of the other people had begun showing signs of some form of magic or something," Marc said but tried to edit what he had observed.

"Hmm. No not really but maybe you've seen differently," she questioned.

How was he supposed to know? He couldn't remember what she was like before he had entered this body. Maybe she had always been that good with a knife and calm during an apocalypse. It's not like they had many opportunities to test how she would react in an apocalyptic situation recently. Not one that he could remember anyhow.

"Were you always so calm in situations like this?"

She glanced briefly at him before returning to the road. "Nope. Not that I know of. Must be that magic thing you think is going on."

Jemma sounded as though she didn't really believe magic was the cause of whatever was happening but allowed it as an excuse.

Marc got a flash of a nervous Jemma that clung to his arm before it was gone. Well, that probably explained that. Whatever that image was, it had looked like a completely different Jemma than the one who was next to him.

Okay, he had to think logically. If the virus was somehow in the water or became airborne they would literally need to prepare.

"Will they have masks at this base?"

"Should be gas masks there. Why?"

"I'm just preparing for in case this virus goes airborne. Currently, my guess, the virus is in the water. We will need a sample of the virus and the water.. Do you think we could get the virus from any of the Zombies?"

Jemma mulled it over before saying, "I don't see why not. Will you need a live specimen or do you think it'll be okay if we just killed one and took the blood?"

"Probably best if we got both."

Thankfully it didn't seem uncommon for him to talk about genetics which meant that he was probably a Geneticist for the Government. He didn't know what Jemma studied but it wasn't the same branch as Marc.

At least he didn't need to dumb himself down in order to quickly get what he needed to end the apocalypse. If he could even end it.

He allowed himself to sit back and enjoy the 'calm' before the storm. There would be time to mull over the scientific crap. Marc hadn't been allowed to properly grieve the past life he had with his mates and all that had happened before another curve ball had been thrown at him.

When would he be able to see his family again?

He was jostled out of his musings by the massive brake check and a body hitting the windshield.

"Fuck!"

Marc kicked his foot out to connect with the zombie that had smashed into the windshield. It's head and hands scrabbling inside the car.

After killing it, he turned towards Jemma who was trying to start up the car again. She slammed her hand onto the wheel a couple of times with a few choice words.

"Looks like we get out here," Marc commented.

Jemma looked at him with a grim look.

They were in the middle of the Highway. Surely they would find another car. Or not.

(You guys.. that song definitely pushed me to write another chapter. Be happy! This Author has finally gotten back into the groove.. until I get back out of the groove and then everyone is fucked because who knows who I'll kill next. lol)
