(Peter's POV)

The only bomb that went off must have been under the table, only a few feet away from where Reece stood. But I guess it was a much more smaller bomb than F.R.I.D.A.Y. had described. Everyone else was at a good range where we were all just knocked to our feet without a scratch.

To say Reece had a few 3rd degree burns would be an understatement. She was knocked out cold and no one would let me help. Mr. Stark ended up just carrying her back to the Avengers building where Reece was sent to his personal doctor right away, still unconscious.

I waited by the closed door Mr. Stark said I couldn't enter. I sat down on the floor next to that very door and waited. And waited. And waited. I didn't even bother to take my suit off, clutching my mask in my hand as I anxiously worried about Reece.

Eventually, after what seemed like an eternity later, Mr. Stark exited the room, followed by Vision, closing the door behind him. I jumped to my feet, desperate for answers. "She's fine." Mr. Stark speaks before I get a chance to ask him anything.

"Can I go-" I begin but he cuts me off, already knowing my question.

"No."

"Why not?"

Mr. Stark hesitates, obviously not having a good and/or proper answer. "Because..."

"Mr. Stark when she wakes up, she's going to be freaking out. I know how to calm her down." I explain, very flustered.

Mr. Stark raises his eyebrows in question. "... Is this some sort of excuse?"

"What?" I furrow my eyebrows, staring at him as if he was crazy. "No."

"Sir, I think he's the only one that can actually calm her down." Vision insists.

Mr. Stark sighs loudly in frustration. "Fine..." He gives in, opening the door back up. "But I don't know how I feel about you two dating..."

His comment stops me from entering her room at that moment. "What do you mean?"

Mr. Stark sighs again, shaking his head. "Nothing... never mind. Now... get in there, lover boy."

And I practically run into the room at Mr. Stark's permission to go inside. I slow down once I'm fully inside the room, staring down at the large bed that was holding a tiny looking Reece. I gulp loudly as I slowly creep towards her.

Her eyes were closed and her body was stiff. The whole left side of her face was burnt, definitely going to be leaving some sort of scar. Vision explained to me that her condition was way better than I assumed it to be. She only had a few burn marks and some bruises. But studying her closely, it looks like she's just crawled out of hell.

Or maybe my mind is making everything seem worse just because I've been so god damn worried about her. And I've been expecting the worst, trying to prepare myself for when it did happen.

I pulled up a chair by Reece's bed and sat next to her, never taking my eyes off her face and grabbing her hand to softly hold in mine. I must have been sitting there for a long time because soon, Mr. Stark and James had walked in.

"She's still asleep?" James questions, almost shocked.

Mr. Stark sighs, leaning against the wall and crossing his arms. "She's been out awhile... she'll probably be up soon."

And sure enough, about twenty minutes later, Reece began to stir. All of the sudden she shoots up from her lying down position, frantically looking around the room, already beginning to freak out. See, Mr. Stark, I knew this would happen!

I react quickly, putting my hands on Reece's shoulders, forcing her to look me in the eye. "Hey, Reece, it's okay, I've got you."

Her face is extremely pale and she just looks out right terrified. "Peter...?" Her voice is shaky and distant.

"Yeah, it's me." I assure her and the fear in her eyes slowly fades away. "You're okay, I've got you." And engulf her in a tight hug, my arms wrapped around her shoulders. She wraps her arms around my stomach, holding on tight as she buried her face into my chest.

I glance back at Mr. Stark and James who stare at me in amazement. And I can't help but smile. It makes me feel good to think that I was one of the only people on this Earth that could calm Reece down from her panic attacks. I could help her in ways other people couldn't.

"You're... really good with her." Mr. Stark whispers, his eyes flickering in Reece's direction.

I give him a small smile before looking down at Reece and stroking her hair, rocking just a bit back and forth. I take a deep breath, letting myself know that she was okay, right here in my arms. All I've ever wanted was for her to just be okay.

Because, god damnit, I love this girl.
