September 4, 20XX- Thursday

"Get me more!" My dad yelled at me.

"I-I don't have any money." I hate how small my voice sounded next to his.

He scoffed at me before pointing a shaking finger my way, "I know you have a part-time job at that school you go to. Now go get me some more! You're just like your mother: a liar!"

It wasn't a lie...

I pushed open the door to the convenience stoor, pulling out the little money I had left.

I sat down at the table by the window as I counted the money over and over, trying to see where a meal would fit.

Pathetic, I couldn't even afford ramen.

I heard someone slip into the chair a few down from mine.

Looking over, I realized it was golden boy, his bruises already fading.

He mixed around his noodle bowl before putting a bite into his mouth.

I couldn't help but lick my lips as I watched.

I wanted to talk to him, but I was too shy.

If I could've, I would have asked:

Are you still in pain?

Why didn't you run away?

My stomach grumbled and I immediately wrapped my arms tight around it, embarrassed.

He looked up to look at me.

Feeling the heat emit from my face, I decided to just get the alcohol and rush out of here.

As I jumped from my chair, I felt something bump against my shoulder.

I turned to look at what it was.

The ramen bowl.

He had slid it over my way.

My eyes bolted back to his seat, but he was no longer there.

Hearing the bell on top of the door chime, I saw him walk out.

I just stood in my spot.

What if this was all he had for the day?

Had he really just given it to me?

That day I walked home with a full stomach and a full heart.
