The Unexpected

Jens POV

Date number two. This time I asked her out after a long week I had at work. I'm actually picking her up this time too. We're going to pick up some fast food, specifically In N Out, then going to this popular dessert place. Way more fancier than in n out.

Now we're eating inside In N Out at one of the booths. Super crowded since it's a Friday night.

"You don't like tomatoes in your burger?" She asks me. "Nope" I shrug. "And onions?" She asks. I shake my head no and take another bite of my burger. "Well I hate onions in mine too but..tomatoes?!" She asks again and I laugh. "No! They bother me with their..big, cold- juicy self" I said. She shakes her head and takes a few bites of her fries. "Okay, well do you like their shakes here?" She asks. "Love." I said. "Okay good. Me too. I was afraid you didn't"

"Well I'm picky so get used to that now before it's too late and you get annoyed" I said. "I'll remember that haha"

"Hopefully it's not crowded when we get dessert!" She says. "I know!" I said.

Then later after we ate, we headed to get dessert. Entered into the building and saw the long line, crowded, and nowhere to even sit. I look at Leah and roll my eyes. "So much for hoping for no crowd" I giggle. "Ugh I know" she says and looks away.

I was next in line so I walked ahead of her while she waited behind me, a few feet away. After I finished ordering I turned around and motioned my hand telling her to come but I caught her looking at my ass. Her eyes were stuck for a second.

"Leah" I said and she snaps out and walks to me then orders right away.

"I'll go look for a seat" I said and left her. Luckily someone just left a table so I took it right away. Even though there was dirt on it, I still got it. An employee came not to long after anyways to clean it. Then Leah came and sat across from me and placed her card number for her order on the table. She went on her phone and didn't even say anything. So here's my chance to observe her..kind of. She doesn't have makeup which is crazy. She looks so pretty without it. I mean she has mascara and lipgloss. That's about it. Me on the other hand, I have a full face of makeup but not too extra at all. Just foundation, filled in brows, lipgloss and I have lash extensions.

She looks up but not at me. She was looking at other people around not saying anything. Usually she starts off conversations whenever I see her.

"Still day dreaming?" I tease her since she had been staring at my ass earlier. She looks at her phone and couldn't hold her smile which was cute.

"I don't know what you're talking about" she says and looks at her nails this time.

"Hmm"

Our dessert later arrives.

"Oooohhh!!" I exclaimed happily. I notice her smiling, reacting to my reaction.

"This is a lot" she says observing her own dessert. "Well don't waste it!" I said. "I won't! I'm just saying" she giggles.

We ate our dessert in about 30 minutes. It took a while because we just kept talking. I'm enjoying the night. It actually feels nice to be doing this dating stuff after years. I'm not trying hard or anything for it though since I have Veronica. I'm just going to go with the flow and see where everything goes.

"Disney!" I hear a voice say. I open my eyes and Veronica is on my side on the bed looking at me. "Babe..give me time to rest first" I groan. "But you promised" she pouts. "I-I didn't promise. You said-" I pause and realize what I'm going to say won't help anything.

"Lemme just sleep a little. Then I'll get ready and we can go."

"But I'm bored" she says. I reached for my phone on the night stand and look at the time. "Mama it's 8 am" I forced a laugh. "Hm" she pouts again letting out that sad sound.

"They don't open until 10 am today" I said. "Fiiine" she whines. "Sleep with mama for an hour" I sigh and wrapped my arms around her and closed my eyes. I feel her move around but I was way to tired to open my eyes and even bother to know what she was doing.

I felt her crawl on top of me for a few seconds. She's a bit heavier than she was years ago so I groaned quietly. Then a second later, All the weight just instantly disappeared but I heard a thud shortly after....then crying.

"Babyyy" I groan and sit up and opened my eyes. I looked down to see her on the light creamed colored carpet with my phone upside down on her lap as she's crying.

"Why are you reaching for my phone over the bed when you know you might fall??" I ask. She doesn't answer and just kept crying. I sighed and got off the bed and picked her up to put her back on the bed. She held her knee close to her chest so I'm guessing her knee hurts.

"Veronica" i said. She looks up at me with those puppy eyes. "Don't do that again" I said. "Sorry" she pouts. I sigh and picked up my phone off the floor. "Stay here. I'll go get you an ice pack" I said and went down.

"Goodmorninggg 😊" Leah texts me. I catch myself smiling just a tiny bit. But I stopped myself. I'm not that into her yet.

"Hi. Good morning :)"

"What're you doing today?"

"Nothing But disneyland today with family" family as in me and Veronica.

"Oh ok cool! Sounds fun!"

"Yeah haha. How about u? Doing anything today?" I reply.

"Nope. Nothing lol. I was going to ask if you wanted to hang out or something today but nvm😂"

"Oh damn! Sorry! Next time we can!"

"Yeah that's cool with me" she replies but I didn't reply back. I usually don't know how to reply to a text like that but I'm sure she won't mind.

What did she mean by 'hang out or something' ? She can't possibly think I'm going to come over then we end up having sex does she? Way too early. I wonder how her past is like with girls. I've never had a chance to ask her that yet. I'll make sure to do it next time I see her. I just hope she's not one who fucks with many women. I mean I have a child. I don't want drama. This is why I'm going to take things slow.
