Leahs POV

I invited Jen and her daughter out for lunch today. I'm really excited because I've never spent the day with them two together. Especially as Jennifer's friend. I've been doing fine lately with Clarissa. I'm starting to like her more and it's making me forget about the negative. Not fully but I'm developing. I'm hoping Jennifer is too. That's another reason I asked them to go out to lunch with me today. I wanna catch up with her.

"Veronica look who's here!" Jennifer says after opening the door for me. I hear her screaming happily as she runs towards the door and jumps in my arms. I smiled so much and gave her the tightest hug. I wasn't at school on Friday aka yesterday so maybe we missed each other that much.

"I missed you too" I laughed. She hugs me tight and just automatically had me carrying her.

I look at Jen as she smiling and she let me in the house. I gave her a side hug while I was still carrying Veronica in my other arm. "Are you ready?" I ask her. "Yeah lemme just do my hair. I don't wanna keep it down today" she says. "Okay" I said. Jennifer goes back to her room but Veronica points at her walking away. So I guess I have to follow Jennifer.

"She wanted to watch" I said As I enter her room. "Oh that's fine! Go sit!" She tells me. So I sat at the edge of her bed and put Veronica down. She walks up to her makeup area and pulls out a brush and comes back to me, climbs on the bed and starts brushing my hair.

"Oh okay" I giggle. "She loves brushing people's hair" Jennifer says. "Haha I see" I said and watched Veronica through the mirror. "Where are we eating today?" Jennifer asks me. "There's this amazing restaurant at Huntington Beach. The type of food I know you'd both like. It's American food but they serve a variety of different types as well." I said.

"Oh okay cool!! Veronica was craving tacos today. Do they have that?"

"Yes!!! They're sooo good too"

"Yay!" Veronica says.

I watched Jennifer do her hair in a high ponytail and then she put on some gold hoops. I have to admit she looks stunning. I'll always think she stunning.

"Are you still talking to Clarissa?" She asks me. "Yeah" "Does she know you're here?"

"Yup" I said. "Oh okay" she giggles. "What about the guy you're talking to? Does he know I'm here?" I ask.

"Nope" She says. "I don't want drama so make sure you let him know"

"It's fine. We're not like that right now. He's just a friend to talk to. He's actually Veronica's dad."

"Wha- really? Wow. That's crazy" I said. "Right? I'll tell you more eventually. Don't want her to hear" she mutters. "Oh okay haha"

"Mommy wear the shoes that matches mine" Veronica says and jumps off the bed. "Okay then go downstairs and put on your shoes. I'll be there"

"Okay. Come on Miss Leah" Veronica says. "No babe she'll stay up here. She needs to help me with something. Just wait for us down there"

"Okay" she says and leaves. Jennifer closes the door just a bit and continues finishing up.

"So her dad and I have known each other since I've adopted Veronica but he's not at all interested in Veronica."

"So...you guys are just friends even though he's the dad?" I ask. "Welllll.." she says with a high pitched voice. I furrow my brows. She scrunches her nose and bobs side to side. "We kinda had a fling the first week we met. But that's it! Everything I told you before was true. It was when Veronica was still a baby. Then we stopped talking but here and there he's check on me since he knows I'm Veronica's new mom. Now since me and you broke up, he's been wanting to know what's up. I know he's flirting with me too but I'm not letting anything happen." She says.
