Jens POV

My doorbell rings and I know exactly who it is. I opened the door to him and we gave each other a friendly type of hug. Me and him have been talking a lot more recently about my breakup because like I've said before, we barely talk but here and there we will talk and so he asked me how things were with me and Veronica. I suddenly brought up how I broke up with my ex and all that. He, Veronica's dad Richard, is not into Veronica's life but he'll check on her one in a while. But today me and him are going out after us talking a lot more again. I don't know if this is a date to him but I'm still into girls of course so I'm just here to talk to him.

"Where's Veronica?" He asks. "She's at my moms right now" I said and grabbed my purse. "Oh okay. Well are you ready?" He asks. "Yeah lets go" I said. We headed out and we went to his car after I locked the house.

But throughout the whole time we spent together today, it felt more like a date because of him. He was calling me pretty and flirting already.

"Just because I broke up with my ex it doesn't mean it's okay to start going out with me. You're my daughters dad. That's gonna be weird because of the whole situation.." I said

"You said you were happy that I'm coming to talk to you about everything" he says. I smile a bit and roll my eyes. "Yeah but you're taking it the wrong way"

"I'm just being nice"

"Pfft"

"So what happened? She broke up with you because she's not ready for kids? But she's a teacher.. a kindergarten teacher?" He asks.

"Yup.. dumb right? I was starting to gain hella feelings for her. But she really broke up with me through text. It's so hard to get over her honestly" I said. I'm not mentioning to him how we had sex after we broke up.

"I'm sure she's having a hard time to get over you."

"She broke up with me so easily. She'll move on fast I'm sure." I said.

"But you guys see each other everyday. It's not easy for people to get over someone as gorgeous as you" he says. I smile and roll my eyes. "If you see her, you'd know it's harder to get over her. She's hot." I said.

"Haha..I'm sure she is."

"Whatever. How about you? How's your love life?" I tease with a smirk. "I've been working a lot so I haven't really been talking to anyone since the last girl who was a crazy one. I had to block her everywhere"

"Please don't tell me you got her pregnant" I joked. "I didn't! Stop putting that on me" he says. "I'm just saying! You don't and didn't know how to control yourself" I giggle.

"When you look that good how could I?"

"You're annoying" i said.

He's a great guy. He flirts too much though. But I'm glad he's here to listen to me even after our weird past. We both knew that was a just for fun thing.

After our little hangout, he dropped me off back home. My mom brought Veronica home not too long after. She's tired. She gave me such a soft hug and dragged herself to the couch.

"She's been playing all day" my mom says. "Playing what?" I asked. "With all her toys she has at my house! And then she kept watching tv, bothering me in the kitchen while I made food"

"Wow.. well thanks for watching her. I'll have her nap for a while" I said.

"Okay great. How was today?" She asks me. "He keeps flirting with me. It's so annoying. But I mean he listens to what I have to say."

"Did you bring up to him about looking for Veronica's mom?"

"I didn't mention it. I thought it was best to talk about it another time this week. I'm seeing him again after work on Tuesday"

"Again? Sheesh"

I just smile and shrugged.
"I'll see you Monday. Love you" I said. "Okay then. Love you too. Love you also Veronica!" She says but Veronica doesn't reply. So she walks over to the couch and just kisses her forehead before leaving.

After my mom left, I went to take a shower and then change into pajama shorts and a big T-shirt. Then I went back to the living room and see my baby stretching on the couch and hugging a pillow.

"Babe, do you wanna sleep here or in your room?" I said quietly to her while rubbing her back. "Heeeere" she mumbles. "Okay go sleep. I love you" I said and kissed her forehead. "Loove you" She mumbles again. I smiled. Then I went to the kitchen to get a small snack to much on and ate it at the table.

My phone started to ring. It was the adoption place. So of course I answered it right away.

"Hello?"

"Yes Jennifer?"

"This is she."

"Hi! We just wanted to update you on everything. At the moment we are still waiting for the mother of Veronica to cooperate with us but she doesn't seem to want to even at least meet the adopted mother of Veronica. We are trying our very best to make sure we get to our goal but for now, we won't be able to inform you on anything else"

"You guys said by the end of the month though.."

"Yes but with the mom not participating at all in this, It would take a little longer. It's a bit harder just cause the mother didn't even wanna go through this in the first place but we are trying everything. At least by next month"

"Okay..can you guys please just keep trying though and make it soon?" I ask desperately. Next week is the end of this month so I'm hoping everything comes by the beginning of next month.

"Of course. We are doing as much as we can" the worker says on the other end of the phone. I wish Richard had contact of Veronica's mom so I wouldn't have to deal with this shit.

After the phone call I finished up my food. Then I went and climbed onto the couch and had Veronica lay down by me so we could cuddle. I also turned on the tv and watched whatever good shows were on.
30 minutes later, I see Veronica just softly scratching the couch fabric.

"Hey! You're awake"

She doesn't respond and turns to lay on her back but she faces me. I smile at her and cup her face. "Where's grandma?" She asks. "She left bubba. We're at home now" I giggle. "Ohh" "are you hungry? I could make food" I said.

"Yes please"

"Okay but I want you to take a shower before dinner today"

"Fine"

"Did you have fun today?"

"Yeah. We played a lot" she says. "I know. You were so tired when you got home" I giggled as I ran my fingers through her hair. Then and placed my lips on her cheek and gave her soft multiple kisses.

"You're so beautiful" I said softly. She giggles a scratched my head softly with her little fingers. "I love you so much" I said. "I love you too" she replies. "You finished all of your homework right?" I joke with her because we both know she doesn't get homework on the weekends. "Homework?!" She asks. "Yeah" I said. "I don't have homework!" She says confusingly. "Are you sure?" I ask. "I don't have homework" she pouts. I smile and pinched her cheek. "I know I'm kidding" I said.

"Meanie" She giggles. I gasp and give her this face that makes her laugh more. Then she rolls over and falls off the couch. I look down at her and she's looking up at me and laughing her ass off. "Silly girl!" I said and I sat up and carried her up high, spun and hugged her tightly as she continues to fill the house with her cute laugh.

"I'm gonna make food now. What show do you want to watch after you shower?" I ask. "Spongebob" she says. "Okay" I said and then I helped her get ready to shower. She's becoming a big girl though so I need to learn to stop babying her. But I'm proud of myself being a single mom of her for years. I just really struggle with having someone watch her but I'm lucky my mom and Vanessa love to watch her.
