SUMMARY

Gabriel de Foix was born at the end of an era of war. All he knew was peace. After the war focused in Britain, with the Wizarding community rebuilding and healing, his family moved there when he was a baby for new jobs. He grew up learning English and French.

He had a nice family. Good parents, a protective older sister, and a sweet younger brother. No family was perfect, but he had a pretty good one. Especially when they were happy for him when he came out.

Gabriel de Foix was happy, but finding out if Louis Weasley — a French Ravenclaw and the first male Veela known — liked boys, was the most stressful period of time in his life.

Oh, and he was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

-this plot is about bipolar disorder but it does not define the story, just like how a mental illness doesn't define a person

-this takes place in either their fifth or sixth year, you choose

-Gabriel's older sister ( Amélie ) is v e r y overprotective and loves her siblings a lot. His younger brother ( Lucas ) is a sweetheart

-Bipolar disorder, formerly called manic depression, is a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression).

-Episodes of mood swings may occur rarely or multiple times a year. While most people will experience some emotional symptoms between episodes, some may not experience any. In most cases, bipolar disorder is treated with medications and psychological counseling (psychotherapy).

-Gabriel suffers from Bipolar I disorder. Bipolar I disorder: they've had at least one manic episode that may be preceded or followed by hypomanic or major depressive episodes. In some cases, mania may trigger a break from reality (psychosis).

-Both a manic and a hypomanic episode include three or more of these symptoms:

Abnormally upbeat, jumpy or wired
Increased activity, energy or agitation
Exaggerated sense of well-being and self-confidence (euphoria)
Decreased need for sleep
Unusual talkativeness
Racing thoughts
Distractibility
Poor decision-making — for example, going on buying sprees, taking sexual risks or making foolish investments

-A dépressive episode includes five or more of these symptoms:

Depressed mood, such as feeling sad, empty, hopeless or tearful (in children and teens, depressed mood can appear as irritability)
Marked loss of interest or feeling no pleasure in all — or almost all — activities
Significant weight loss when not dieting, weight gain, or decrease or increase in appetite (in children, failure to gain weight as expected can be a sign of depression)
Either insomnia or sleeping too much
Either restlessness or slowed behavior
Fatigue or loss of energy
Feelings of worthlessness or excessive or inappropriate guilt
Decreased ability to think or concentrate, or indecisiveness
Thinking about, planning or attempting suicide ( not all depressed people think about suicide. Keep that in mind )

-Louis is bisexual and Gabriel is gay

-Louis and Gabriel do end up dating a two months or so after Gabriel is diagnosed as bipolar and I think Gabriel experienced an episode ( either manic or depressive, or both ) which lead to him being diagnosed

-I like to think ( so I will ) that after the Battle of Hogwarts, Hogwarts started to open up to mental illnesses ( especially with all the PTSD that happened in the Battle ) and now there is another doctor to help with that kind of stuff

-Gabriel is fluent in French and English, he doesn't have a French accent, and he mostly speaks English but he may speak French around his parents.

-Gabriel is one year younger than Amélie and two years older than Lucas.

-Do lots of research on Bipolar disorder. Have Louis do lots of research on it.

-I've read things from people who have bipolar disorder and how they say "it's sometimes hard to tell joy from manic and sadness from depression" because you don't know if it's normal or if you are slowly falling into a hole

-Yes, I'm obsessed with SKAM France, leave me alone

-Gabriel wishes he lived in a different universe where he didn't have bipolar disorder. He thinks that in another universe he doesn't have it. ( just like in SKAM, how one half of the couple in the season 3 pairing, believes that there are different universes where they made a slightly different choice )

-Gabriel draws when his mind feels really cluttered but by no means does it as a hobby or loves it. He is, however, pretty good at it

-Louis loves to listen to music and take pictures, fight me

-Gabriel is only maybe two years older than Louis. I know it sounds like he was born just after the war but he's born right at the end of when the Wizarding world has mostly healed and got its crap together and stopped being super duper on edge

-The MsMarauders community is making plots for mental illness as May is mental health awareness month. Mental health needs to be talked about and discussed. It's something that people go through. It should not be stuffed away and dealt with by yourself. You are never alone

-yes, this used to be a Teddy Lupin plot but I changed it and republished it because I wanted to make it a Louis Weasley plot because I'm thinking about taking it but I want to think it over some more
