SUMMARY
Ethan Sawyer was a lot of things. He was loud, bold, smart, and stuck up for what he believed in. His friends were the most important things to him and would do anything for them.
James Sirius Potter was an ass. The definition of male white privilege and used his last name like it got him everything. He got what he want, no matter the people he had to step on to get it. Ethan hates James with everything in him, and that only amplified when he used his best friend as a fuck and then dropped her.
James didn't really know Ethan before, but after some very bold chosen words, that's all he wanted.
NOTES -I was watching SKAM Austin and the season of Daniel and Grace after Daniel says Kelsey isn't pretty enough to be a trophy is kinda what brought this on. I REALLY want you to include that. "Wow, you are one awesome guy." "Do I know you?" "No, I'm just another person completely fascinated by you. What on earth made you feel so insecure that you felt the need to trash an innocent fifth year girl like that to keep your dignity? What happened to make you this insecure? No really, I want to know. Let me guess. Your parents never love you enough? Your mum never put your artwork on the fridge? Your dad never come to one of your games?" That's basically it but the scene is in season 1 episode 6
-I love James, and he should change throughout the book. He starts off an absolute terrible person. Ethan should help change him — not on purpose because Ethan starts off hating his guts.
-James is a seventh year while Ethan is either a fifth year or sixth year
-James is bisexual and Ethan is gay. You cannot change this
-Ethan agrees to go out with James if James will leave his friend alone. They go out, Ethan sees a new side to James, but he still tries to hate him
-James has problems being the son of the great Harry Potter. He hates the pressure that comes with it and this is the only outlook he could find.
-everybody wants to get with James but Ethan really hates him
-VERY SLOW BURN. They get together when Ethan is yelling at James at what seems like something small and then they end up kissing. You can decide if you want them together after that or not
-James is a Gryffindor and Ethan is either a Gryffindor or Ravenclaw
-the title is "Hot Chocolate" because somewhere in this James should find Ethan crying after something serious happening in his family and takes him down to the kitchens and they have hot chocolate. They don't really talk, they just drink the hot chocolate, but this is the first time Ethan sees James even remotely caring about someone other than himself so hot chocolate should have some role in this
