I hope you'll like it !😘

Carlos ran as fast as he could. The policemen were following him with their guns out. He looked above his shoulder. They were coming closer and closer. He turned left, sped up again and jumped in a dark alleyway before the men following him could see. He pressed himself against the wall and hid in the shadow. He held his breath as they passed by the alleyway and did his best not to move. No one seemed to notice him. Once he was sure he was out of sight, he relaxed. He pressed his hand on his side and tried to stop his blood from leaving his body. The bullet wound was hurting a lot. He needed to find a doctor because he was starting to feel light-headed but he couldn't go to the hospital. The police would find him and he would be dead. Today had really been a shitty day. He knew it would be a shitty day since the morning. First, he'd spilled his coffee on his brand new shirt.

"Joder!" He shouted through his flat while trying to wipe the brown stain on his pristine white shirt.

He was already late for his first class. But he definitely couldn't go to the University of Cambridge like that. With a sigh, he took it off and changed. He finally walked inside the university. Only 15 minutes late. It could have been worse.

"Carlos!"

The Spaniard turned around quickly and smiled when he saw his father stepping out of his office.

"Hola papa."

"I received it!" His father said, almost jumping in excitement.

"Received what?" Carlos asked, walking to the office.

"The book from the Vatican." He answered with a smug smile.

"No way!" Carlos exclaimed.

"Come in, I'll show you."

"I can't, I'm already late."

"5 minutes won't make a difference."

Carlos hesitated for a second. But seeing Galileo's dialogue on the desk made him forget his lecture. It was a treasure of history, a world-changing piece. He stepped closer and brushed his fingers over the cover of the book.

"I'm going to start studying it. Meet me at lunch break and we'll look at it together." Carlos Sr suggested.

"Sure. See you later."

Carlos walked out reluctantly and finally joined his classroom. Obviously, the students were already waiting for him. With a forced smile, he apologized and started his lecture. He only gave a few of them, as he kept on studying for his thesis.

He was teaching history and the meaning of symbols. He was a symbologist. He'd spent his life studying the greatest artists, learning about their work and what they meant. He loved his job. Teaching the mysteries of history to passionate students was like living a dream. And he was learning more everyday, finding out more secrets, finally understanding some others.

. . .

Carlos Sr was sat at a table outside, studying his precious book and waiting for his son to join him.

"Professor Sainz?" Someone asked with a Dutch accent.

He looked up with a frown. A young man was standing beside him, followed by two other men.
